I've lost the day/date display on the trip screen. It comes up with checking date instead. Dealer has no ideas. The vehicle is a Holden Captiva LTZ Diesel 2014

You need to perform an update of the navigation software (patch software) for resolving an error "checking date..." displayed in the trip screen.

Can adjust time & date but date will not stay at new setting reverts back to 2009

Usually means the power for the memory circuit is not good.
Most clocks- radios have a memory power circuit and a power circuit for the display. You are probably loosing your stations too.
If the memory circuit is good, the problem may be in the clock.
