A wide variety of jacks can be purchased from stores, also, "used jacks" can often be found up at junkyards. I have kept jacks from vehicles that I've had "scrapped" after they were no longer worth repairing anymore, so that I had a couple spares available "just in case".

It's worthwhile having a floor jack. I use mine all the time.
Hope this helps.

Cant find the tire wrench

Usually they are a multipurpose design. If i remember correctly from my previous m vehicles the back end of the lug wrench is used to operate jack. If they are missing best bet go to Auto parts stoe and buy a compact jack and tire iron set.

Cannot remove spare tire from undercarriage

Hello, this vehicle has a locking device to keep the spare tire from falling down. you will have to perform these steps to remove spare tire.

  • Turn the folding wrench clockwise to raise the jack until it lifts the secondary latch device under the wheel plate.
  • Keep raising the jack until the compact spare tire stops moving upward and is held firmly in place. This lets you know that the secondary latch has released.
  • Lower the jack by turning the folding wrench counterclockwise. Keep lowering the jack until the compact spare tire is resting on the folding wrench

I have the Jeep jacked up, lug nuts are off but the wheel won't budge. Seems to be connected somewhere else. what am i missing?

You haven't missed anything, it is corroded around the center hub. Make sure the jack is secure and give the tire (not the wheel) a good hit with a baseball bat, steel pipe etc from the outside. It also sometimes helps to spray some wd40 or other solvent into the holes that the lugs pass through, especially above the hub so it gets between the wheel and mount flange.

I can't get the spare tire out of the rack? 2004 yukon

  • Rotate the hoist shaft counterclockwise in order to lower the spare tire to the ground. Continue to rotate the shaft until the spare tire can be pulled out from under the vehicle and removed. If the spare tire does not lower to the ground, the secondary latch is engaged causing the tire not to lower.
  • If the secondary latch is engaged and the cable end is visible, perform the following procedure: 3.1. Tighten the cable by rotating the hoist shaft clockwise until you hear 2 clicks or feel it skip twice. You cannot overtighten the cable. 3.2. Loosen the cable by rotating the hoist shaft counterclockwise 3 or 4 turns. 3.3. If the spare tire can be lowered, repeat steps 1 and 2 to see if the spare tire can be removed. 3.4. If the spare tire cannot be lowered, rotate the hoist shaft counterclockwise until approximately 15 cm (6 in) of cable is exposed. 3.5. Raise and support the vehicle. 3.6. Place a transmission jack, or equivalent, under the spare tire. 3.7. Position the center of the transmission jack under the secondary latch release button at the center of the spare tire. Arrange the arms of the transmission jack so they will support the tire after it has been released. 3.8. Raise the jack until the spare tire stops moving upward and is firmly held in place, releasing the secondary latch. 3.9. Lower the tire. If the spare tire is hanging by the cable, rotate the hoist shaft counterclockwise until the tire is low enough to remove.

Safty lock for spare tire on 2003 chevy silverado will not release..tried cranking it all the way back up and lowering it down again but the lock would not release the tire i have been stuck on the road...

Check your owners manual .There is a saftey catch that will need to be realased by using your bottle jack and tire stops that come with your truck. If you dont have a owners manual. What you can try is taking a floor jack and a socket place it under the spairtire right in the center where the cable holds the tire in place. start jacking it up until the socket hits the square part in the center once the socket is aligned with the square part continue to jack up it should release it . Its a stupid system but it will work if the cable wont allow the tire to drop. good luck and keep me posted.

    Unloading spare tire 2005 trailblazer

After you open the rear hatch look on the sill of the frame on the right hand side of the truck. You must insert the Jack crank into the hole and turn it counter clockwise to release the holder and the tire will tilt down from underneath. If it does not release then you may have to pull it down as the mechanism has been known to seize. After you open the rear hatch look on the sill of the frame on the right hand side of the truck.
