14 volts charge is correct. Standing voltage on a good fully charge battery is 13.2 volts or so. I check one on charge with a 6 amp charger and it was 14.2 volts. It dropped to 13.8 with charger off.

Sears Lt5000 battery. How check?

All batteries need to be fully charged. It should hold about 12.3 volts. Amps is the important thing and if you have a ful battery, and the machine turns sluggishly, it means the battery is low in amps. This reduces over time and can only be tested with a special tester. Any Interstate shop or garage will test it for you free of charge.

Hello Hermando, I assume your truck battery is 12 volt. You would want to select 12v 2a for a long slow charge or 12v 6a for a shorter faster charge.

Does not start, battery ok. alternator and starter test out ok

The car battery has 6 cells, each cell holds 2 volts, and connected in series adds to 12 volts. Just like your flashlight, each battery hooked in series results in increased voltage. Its possible one cell is not holding a charge, which slowly drains power from adjacent cells. In battery series connection, if one cell won't hold a charge, electrons will flow to lowest cell voltage in attempt to equalize voltage. So when one cell drops to less than 2 volts, the electrons from other cells will flow to this cell to recharge and bring voltage up to equalize voltage level. To diagnose for dead cell in 6-cell car battery, remove the 6 caps to expose the electrolyte liquid AFTER you have recharged the battery for 20 minutes with 10-amp charger, or until "fully charged" indicator comes "on." With a digital voltage meter set to 5 volts DC reading, connect the negative black probe to negative side of battery and touch the liquid electrolyte with the red positive probe. The voltage meter will display the voltage reading on each cell as you move the red positive probe from one cell to another. Make a note of each voltage reading from each cell. Wait one hour or more, then take another reading of each cell. The cell that has the lowest reading is the one that's draining power from the adjacent cells. A normal battery will show no change in voltage level between the first and second reading an hour later. A defective battery will show a drop in voltage to indicate one or more cell is slowly draining power to gradually render the battery completely dead 36 hours later.

How do u charge a edelbrock power wheel corvette for kids 12 volt batteries and a 6 volt charger

Hello! Due to Charger Voltage Compatibility: Never use a battery charger unless the battery voltage matches the output voltage rating of the charger...Therefore do not use a 6-volt charger on a 12-volt battery and visa-versa...

Need to purchase a battery charger, what type do you recommend?

It really depends on what you are going to use it for. I use a small charger when I just want to maintain a battery. I use mine also for keeping the battery up while I am performing computer diagnostics on a vehicle without the engine running.
The charger I use is a DSR Pro Series Model PSC 12500A It is fully automatic and has a 125 Amp boost. It is very compact and easy to use. It has LED's that tell you the condition of your battery, the charging rate, etc.
I purchased mine from Matco Tools (Matco part number MIC1200) It is available through many local parts suppliers as well as online automotive parts and equipment suppliers.

My 2000 Yamaha golf cart has 6-4cell 8 volt batteries. I did not leave the cart plugged in during the winter months. When I attempted to charge yesterday, the charger lights sequenced but stayed on...

Yes to both questions. the charger must sense 41.5 volts to activate the relay inside the charger. Being a repair shop, I have a charger that is rigged to charge even DEAD batteries. I do not recommend this for the novice. A charger set on 12 volts will bring the batteries back up to 8.2-8.6 volts. A cheap trickle charger may not put out enough to charge a battery of this size. Remember that they are used to MAINTAIN a charge. Connect the Voltmeter and watch for voltage rise. If it rises to 8.1 or above, it is charging. Trojan battery company recommends charging at least once a month.

Meter Explanation

You are correct on all accounts. A high number means you dying battery is sucking more juice from the Schumacker. A low number means the battery is not as thirsty. That's how I always think of how to read the meter on mine. Slow charge is a better, deeper charge. The quick charge will get you going, but you should maybe follow it up using the normal mode - car alternator and prolonged drive time. I never use quick charge, personally.

Car will not jump start

Check battery voltage. If volts are very low, put on charger. In many cases, you can't jump through a really dead battery... not enough voltage gets through to computer etc to make systems operate.
Battery may be used up... if it will not take a charge, replace it and check charging system before driving. PS: use a charger to charge battery. If it is very low, you candamage charging system in other vehicle. Also,,, You cleaned terminals already RIGHT???
