you posted 4 times, 1: no country stated, USA we are, for a fact others country VITATA ,are not like ours, at all, (by laws) 2; no engine stated (G16, J20, H25 or bigger v6) 3: no full symptoms (1 spark plug dead) IF ALL SPARKS dead is different cause than 1. on all engines made, petrol 4: we know its petrol. (ours is gas) LOL 5: lacking all these facts we must guess wildly and use generic OTTO Cycle engines answer.
OTTO 101: cranks but don't start engine bad. (if cam belt old, bingo if has one) spark dead. 1 or 4 or 6 dead sparks? fuel gone missing or flooding.
there are over 50 causes to kill a petrol engine. and about 1- 10 tests.(using tools. do you want the wild guessing guys to guess?, or tell you how to test.? your call and not stated.
When the alternator doesn't supply current, the battery light on the dash would light up. (assuming the battery lightbulb is working) Next would be to doubt the voltage regulator not doing a proper job, but usually its either dead or working.
Ghost consumers can be tracked when the engine is off and removing / attaching the battery lead causes quite a bit of spark. Measure the Amps with a multimeter when turned off. When it's in the 2 Amps and upwards region - remove one fuse group after the other to see where most of it goes. Then go through all the separate consumers in that group.
If it's a low current preferably below the 1 Amp - the battery might not be as healthy anymore as suspected.
pull off your starter and have it tested at your local auto parts store while cold... you may have a weak solenoid or some corrosion on the starter ring gear shaft.
The condensor you said it smells like gas the ponts are good but the condensor you might have to carry a extra one there are low condensor on the market. and the fuel pump make sure it goes in the carburator no out, check the oil make sure it doesnt internally leak, and look in the carburator does it squirt in there? and check its timing, now is the condensor for 6 volt system application or 12 volt aplication ? remeber 1976 T2 VW had 6 volt applications
