2006 GMC Sierra 1500. 7 wire harness going to blower motor resistor burnt at harness connector, where it attached to resistor. can i just replace harness? or do i also need new resistor. blower motor still works today. something is heating up the wire harness to melt insulation i caught it as it happened.
The connector that plugs into the blower motor under the glove box became too hot and melted the plastic resulting in the a/c and heat not to work (this includes the windshield defroster). I've been looking up problems and solutions and found that this is a recurring problem with GMC and chevy trucks yet there has not been any recall, in fact the dealerships have an extremely overpriced kit to fix their faulty wiring. About 66,000 mi.

wire harness melt
Blower motor will work on all speeds. When I put the blower motor on high the orange wire heats up. the orange wire gets so hot I can't even touch it. once the orange wire gets untouchable air stops coming out of the vents. blower sounds like its still on high.
