Depending on year some had a fuse panel on the end of instrument panel on driver side. Check fuse for 4 wheel dr. Sometimes backing up will help.

It depends on witch shift system you have .
If you have a shift lever in the consoled its mechcanical witch is cable and vacuum operated useing accuators to move the cables and engage on disengage the 4WD .
If you have the electronic shift then their is at least 100 pages of all kinds of things that could go wrong .Not to say it would be super expensive but vary hard to diagnosis with out having a dealer work on it .And it sounds like your stuck in 4 wd low .
If it is the mechcanical I can help

Most 4x4s need to be in neutral to get in and out of 4 wheel low. If you tried that then you have a solenoid stuck somewhere in the 4WD shift system. It all done with 12 volt power--no manual shifters these days.

Hi all I own a 2006 RA Rodeo 3.6Ltr petrol dual cab it is a little heavy on fuel that's fine but when you put it into 5 gear it just drinks fuel nearly 1/4 tank to go 15-20 klms. Any ideas greatly app

The only thing that comes to mind is that in 5th, the rpms may be so low that you are running on low speed potion of ignition module, getting weak spark and not burning fuel properly. This could be true in all gears at low rpms, but you would not notice it as much because you probably keep the revs up more in lower gears. Just a thought.

4x4 dont work

you have 4w low.. low/lock..4w high and hi lock..4w low is just a slower set of gears that gives the truck way more power for like pulling or towing in harse conditions.. 4 w hi is more for traction at hyway speeds..you may have a seperate lock lever.. most do..

How to use the 4x4

well, if you are sitting still it is recommended you put vehicle in neutral and select 4x4 indicator to desired posistion..... 4 high...4 low...or 2high (auto) when you select 4 low the top speed is not to exceed 25 mph. It is a very low gear for crawling or pulling. At any time you need 4 low gear you must stop trk, shift to neutral and select 4 low. The same procedure is done to change from 4 low to 4 hi or 2 hi. if not done this way internal trans, transfer case or driveline failure will occure. At any time you may shift 4x4 selector from (auto) or 2 hi to 4 hi, and 4 hi to 2 hi or( auto).****** But note, do not make shifts while tires are spinning or under power (acceleration)******* While driving you can make shifts at any speed between 2 hi (auto) and 4 hi and back to 2 hi. release throttle a little and select. you do not have to take foot off throttle all the way! just enough that truck is not under a power, load acceleration. If tires are spinning or you are on the gas and you select gears from 2 & 4 high the posibilities of severe damage can result. Also note that 4x4 is not recommended on dry pavement. When 4x4 is being used also take care as to the handling and the steering characteristics change, On tight turns the front wheels will bind and possibly **** a little. If you have never had a 4x4 before, obey what i have told you untill you get the experiance and you will be fine. HAPPY TRAILS.... AND A LITTLE 4X4 FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How to use fourwheel drive

On an 86 you probably still had the hub locks on the outside. You have to get down off the truck and manually turn the hubs to the lock position. The hubs are located in the middle of the wheel. Then Put the 4 wheel drive gear shift to 4 hi or 4 low. At the low level it runs very slowly and very low geared. At 4 hi, it runs normal but the 4 wheel drive engages. When you are not using the 4 wheel drive it is good that you get off the truck and turn the hubs counter clockwise to the off position.

How to activate 4wd hi/low on 2000 dodge durango slt

You need to get under the suv, there is a linkage under there that has 2 grommets. They dry rot and then fall out. Once that has happened the 2 pins that hold it together give way and the link is broken. If all you need are those 4 parts its $12 at the dealer. If you also need the adjustable metal linkage that joins the shifter to the transfer case you will have to order that too, sometimes it falls off when one end gets loose. It will swing around and hit the drive shaft and get yanked off. If you need more detail let me know.

Idles too low

Hi
It can be a few things.

If your engine tuning is OK, most probable is the idle valve.

Sometimes a squirt of brake cleaner can work wonders.

Try this first.

Good Luck.
