2005 Nissan murano awd v-6 intermittent engine cut out around 50 mph with very little response when the accelerator pedal is depressed

PRNDL , D and L work right? but not R I had no acceleration. and engine RPM goes way high but MPH was weak, this is transmission slip
or
RPM did not go high so reverse is hopeless with dead weak engine

when did car last work good./ last week last year, or never?

Sometimes you can only diagnose a faultwhen it is their / happening ....try earth straps around engine remove , clean and refit

its behind your fuse panel but upwards. You can see it if you get your head down and kiss the pedals. Your definitly gonna have to do some dash diving though it you decide to mess with it.

I think there is some fault in engine, it is not giving enough acceleration or torque.

Audi Aftermarket Parts

AWD is computer controlled in your 05 Murano. AWD lock is for low speeds under 10 MPH or something like that. I've had my 05 Murano since 05 and never used AWD lock. Between VDC and AWD I've never had any problem getting around. My salesmen told me it was for low speed/towing...I never tow so I've never used it.

You have to re-set the obd via using Nissan's approved drive-cycle which is;

1. Start the engine when the engine coolant

temperature gauge needle points to C. Allow

the engine to idle until the gauge needle

points between the C and H (normal operating

temperature).

2. Accelerate the vehicle to 55 MPH (88

km/h), then quickly release the accelerator

pedal completely and keep it released for at

least 6 seconds.

3. Quickly depress the accelerator pedal for a

moment, then drive the vehicle at a speed

of 53 to 60 MPH (86 to 96 km/h) for at least

5 minutes.

4. Stop the vehicle.

5. Accelerate the vehicle to 35 MPH (55 km/h)

and maintain the speed for 20 seconds.

6. Repeat steps 4 through 5 at least 3 times.

7. Accelerate the vehicle to 55 MPH (88 km/h)

and maintain the speed for at least 3 minutes.

8. Stop the vehicle and turn the engine off.

9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 at least one more

time.

If step 1 through 7 is interrupted, repeat the

preceding step. Any safe driving mode is acceptable

between steps. Do not stop the engine

until step 7 is completed. If you cannot or

do not want to perform the driving pattern, a
NISSAN dealer can conduct it for you.

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem! Try filter first (cheapest), then the pump

First of all, you should'nt do this unless you know what the problem is.. or what tripped it. I had this problem when my husband and I were replacing a head unit and disconnected the old head unit, a/c and other stuff then turn the car on. This made the light flash. The first time we took it in and got charged $50 to reset it. The second time we did this procedure and it worked.

ECU Resetting Procedures

Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.

Reset Check Engine Light Procedures

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 seconds.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
