The fuel pump reset button on your 97 98 99 Explorer is on the inertia switch which is under the dash just below the heater case behind the kick panel on the passenger side. There is a "Fuel Reset" indicator light on the dash instrument cluster which will illuminate if the inertia shut-off has been activated and needs to be reset. Remember to leave feed back and comment on my help also if you need any further help please feel free to ask. Thanks FixYa Team

Fuel Reset
The FUEL RESET indicator is grounded through the inertia switch whenever the vehicle is subjected to a high force situation. The inertia fuel shutoff switch (IFS switch) (9341) cuts off the fuel pump motor. The FUEL RESET indicator illuminates when the IFS switch has been tripped

Last drove vehicle (98 Explorer) two weeks ago. Indicator shows 1/2 tank of gas. Truck will not start. It cranks at very good pace but does not seem to get fuel or spark? Vehicle is in the drive, parked on...

YES, the fuel cut off switch is located on the passenger side of vehicle. remove the side panel and on the firewall you will see a small black box with a red button, press red button down to activate. turn ignition on and you should hear pump turn on for a quick brief second.

pass. front kickplate, but it does not reset anything- the only time you need to push it is when the vehicle won't start at all. has nothing to do with the amount of fuel used. you could check the fuel pressure regulator, hows it running?
