I bought a ram truck with a made key it has locked computer down I have a locksmith coming but need to know how to unlock computer
We replaced the motor and it started right up but the key was not programmed so it locked the computer down is there a way to unlock without going to dealership.
Re: I bought a ram truck with a made key it has locked...
The computer is not happy with the motor change. There is probably a security code system that needs to be reset. It may be as simple as the radio security code which dealer may have by vin number. But more likely the internal computer needs a reset, most likely also by dealer.

Sounds like you have an Amazon Lemon, made in China. Find a local auto locksmith. They have a pro grade scan tool computer to check the vehicle systems and also a gadget they can test the transmitter in the fob for its functions.
do you have remote start needs different programming then simple lock unlock and most locksmiths dont have that programming also is the for actually for your vehicle if have regular lock unlock below is how to program also when battery changed need to reprogram fob How to reprogram my Honda key fob insert the key into the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. Press and hold either the "lock" or "unlock" button on the remote for one second. Release the button on the remote and turn the key in the ignition to the "off" position. Repeat this process two additional times.
If your Toyota Corolla was made between the years 1970 and 2004 and you lost the key, you can get a new key replacement with an automotive locksmith company or a Toyota dealership. The difference between the two will be that the locksmith will be able to make you a new key at your location, where the dealer will ask you to come in. You can save some money by doing some of the work yourself. If you disassemble the passenger door lock, you can find the key code stamp on the lock itself and provide it to a locksmith company and ask them to make you a new key. If you just need a key copy, you can try many hardware stores or a locksmith shop. One of the hardware stores we recommend you try is Ace Hardware.
It is best to call a locksmith, unless you know how to take apart the ignition tumbler and put the assemly locks in the correct order. It sounds like the key tumbler hold in broke and all the tumblers are loose and causing the key to be stuck. If you want to hurry the job for the locksmith and save money, buy the key tumbler assembly for your vehicle for the locksmith to install. Otherwise he will have to make the trip to buy the assembly, which in turn costs you more money. Mechanic shops can replace key tumblers too but when it is stuck in the column, it takes a lot of effort to remove if they are unskilled.
Doubtful. I'd recommend a good locksmith to come pop the lock for you fron the window channel. If you know what to look for, just roll down the window, find the lock linkage, and pop the lock yourself.
If the steering wheel is under pressure (can happen even with the wheels straight ahead) the lock mechanism can be putting pressure on the key making it very hard for the key to release the lock mechanism. Try pulling on the wheel in one direction and turning the key. If nothing, try turning the wheel the other direction and try turning the key. You may need to replace the lock mechanism. This usually involves being able to turn the key in the lock or having to drill the lock. You are probably going to need a locksmith for this one. You will need a replacement lock cyliner mechanism if the locksmith has to punch the lock.
if your key worked before but doesn't now your probably looking at a worn out lock cylinder or a worn out key. more than likely its the lock cylinder. you can buy a replacement lock cylinder but it will have to be keyed to match the original key by a locksmith or a knowledgeable parts guy may know how
