I want to install a front hitch receiver on my 2012 Honda Ridgeline(8,000 miles on it)to move a boat trailer. Is this an absolute no-no or can it be done? I'm not worried about warranty.

Front tow hitches are made for any vehicle to be towed behind motor homes, certainly 1 of these could be custom modified for your needs. I would talk to U-Haul, or a motor home store.

Tried to install a trailer hitch on 2010 Santa Fe

Take to a trailer hitch specialty shop. (Think of where you would take a pickup truck to - not U-haul or similar). This sounds like a severe safety issue. They will recommend a safe alternative to your current hitch and likely buy it back from you as well (at a loss to you I am sure, but better than killing yourself or others when your boat or jet ski comes zooming past you on the highway.)

you can add a receiver hitch made for that vehicle. for light towing you should be fine. it won't handle a car trailer or Large boat.

What is the purpose of a front mount hitch?

Front mount receiver hitches provide a convenient mount for hitch accessories such as a step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, or a winch mount plate. It also provides an easy way to maneuver your boat at the launch or campground. B&W Trailer hitches provide all the different hitches available.

Maintenance Minder 6 Scheduled Maintenance
Recommended service for your 2006 Honda Ridgeline:

Replace VTM-4 rear differential fluid: Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or trailer towing results in higher level of mechanical (shear) stress to fluid or frequently fully loaded. This requires differential fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If you regularly drive your vehicle under these conditions, have the differential fluid changed at 7,500 miles (12,000 km), then every 15,000 miles (24,000 km).

Do the 2009 Nissan Frontiers have a turn signal flasher? I had a 2'' ball hitch installed and when attaching the boat trailer to the hitch the trailer turn signals don't work. When they hooked up the boat...

check for signal ground, this is not a metal ground, use a test light or volt meter to see if they at plug before you plug in the trailer, you may need to rewire the trailer.

Headlights work but all front and rear running lights do not work. Trailer hitch with trailer brake light wire was recently installed.

Take it back. Sounds like they didn't wire the converter correctly. Check fuses also. Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have a great website with lots of info.

Take it back and have them check the wiring. It sounds like the converter is wired wrong or faulty.
