This may be accompanied with the power door locks not working also. You may be able to reset it by pulling the fuses in the underhood fuse relay center. The fuse or fuses that may reset the system are sitting in special holders in the relay center that have little clips on the side. They will look different from the other fuses as they have their own little holders. Pull them up and reseat them. Hope this helps

Testimonial: "So that didnt work either. we think maybe it might be the ignition."

There should be one labeled IOD and may be sitting in a red holder in the underhood relay box. Look in your owners manual for the location and remove itfor 10 sec and reinstall it. I hope this helps

Have you tried your spare key? Try putting the gearshift in neutral and turning the key. If these tips don't help you may have a problem with any of the following... Starter motor.. Starter relay..Pcm..Bcm..Wcm..wiring. You will need to have diagnostics run to determine and isolate the issye. Wish I could be of more help

there may also be a "key chip" that goes under the dash, I have seen those fall out and keep the car from starting (looks kind of like a wide USB fob such as this:

2008 Chrysler P T Cruiser. I recently replaced the starter and then my battery. I thought went dead but that isn't the issue. The car will crank but won't start.

Question edited for clarity. Spelling of 'Cruiser', and 'want' to 'won't', which is a contraction of 'will not'.
Question moved to model category.

By removing the battery, you activated the anti-theft system and engine immobilizer.

Put the key in the ignition and turn the key so that the [battery](/topics-battery-chrysler/) is on, but the [engine](/topics-engine-chrysler/) doesn't start. Quickly push and hold in the override button until you hear the alarm sound once, indicating the alarm is disabled.

2006 CHRYSLER VAN PUT KEY IN TO CRANK AND HORN BLOWS AND WILL NOT CRANK

This can be a tough one but in all probability the problem will be in your anti theft system. Try this, have someone boost the battery. The engine should turn over and the horn will sound. When it starts use your key fob to lock and unlock the doors. That should reset your alarm system. In all probability your battery needs replacing. Try that. Good luck.

New battery but still won't start.

are u certain you have a anti theft system, it was an option in this year, let me know, if u do locking and unlocking the passenger door with the key is supposed to disarm it according the owners manual I have, if u do have the system and it will not disarm then there is a problem in the control module, also u need to check for fault codes in the engine electreonics, go to the link belwo for instructions, Jeep uses the same test as all products from Chrysler Corp.

This is the problem due to your anti theft alarm system. You have not mentioned which brand of anti-theft alarm system you have? Anyhow, most of the systems have a reset switch inside the kit, open the kit and on the main board, u will find the reset button, press that and hold for 5 sec, the system will be reset. Otherwise, there are 2 or 3 fuses with the wiring of kit, remove those fuses and ur engine will wake up but the anti-theft system wont work then, hope this will solve the problem

RESETTING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

I can only assume you have had the code extracted and fixed the problem and looking to do a reset only. If you have not fixed the problem the reset wont do any good. That being said, in most all chrysler vehicles, the check engine light can be reset by disconnecting the negative battery cable for at least 15 seconds. However on OBD II (usually 97 and newer) models the light can only be reset with the use of a scan tool. CAUTION : If the stereo in your vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft system, make sure you have the correct activation code before disconnecting the battery cable.
