Follow upper radiator hose to the engine block. Thermostat housing should be what the hose attaches onto.

CHECK TO SEE IF THE FAN RELAY IS FUNCTIONING BY SWAPPING IT WITH ANOTHER LIKE THE WIPER RELAY IF THEY ARE THE SAME. IF THE WIPERS WORK WITH THE A/C RELAY IN IT'S PLACE, THEN TRY REPLACING THE FAN FUSE. IF NONE OF THESE METHODS MAKE THE FAN TURN ON THEN REPLACE THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR LOCATED NEAR THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE INLET TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA.

My car keeps overheating and leaks water after a few miles. I have put steel seal in but this has not worked. Can you suggest any remedies or what to try next please . It is a Suzuki swift2005 thanks

swift normally comes with coolant system. coolant gets cooled by the radiator and a fan is there for overheating of coolant. check the coolant system and fan. water is never added to a coolant system.

My suzuki swifts fan comes on even when cold the car suddenly revs to 1000 from 800rpm. I can shut her off and it revs normally for 2 mins then the fan kicks in and the revs go up any suggestion plz

A sticking cooling fan relay ! What year is your swift ? The ECT - engine coolant temp. sensor is an input to the PCM - engine computer ,when the engine temperature reaches 213 degrees ,there about ,the PCM will supply a ground to energize the relay turning on the cooling fan . Also when this happens the PCM will raise the idle RPM to compensate for the load on the engine . Do you know what a relay is ? It is probably located in the under hood fuse / relay box . It will give you a diagram in your owners manual >

Suzuki swift 2005 1,3 petrol overheated .coolant fluid was boiling but didn't seem to leak .started the car again drove a couple of miles and the same again.

check to see if the cooling fans at the rad are working. if so then change the thermostat and refill the system. if not then have the head gasket checked for cracking. make sure the coolant is circulating if its not it could be a plugged cooling system or even a water pump impeller problem.

Finding the thermostat in a 1987 suzuki swift

Not familiar with your vehicle but engines of that period will normally have them hidden under a fitting that probably is a diamond-shaped cast aluminum piece with one of the radiator hoses leading to it and held in place by two (rarely more) bolts.
It will be either on the head or the block.

Just follow the (large) hoses from the radiator and the one with a fitting as described will likely have the thermostat concealed under it.
