Hi
I am mildly intrigued, as I have two cars and the licence plates are different, but this is normal as the licence plate is what identifies the car to the authorities, and from this they can identify whether or not it is insured, taxed etc etc.
Surely you should be reporting the cars with the same licence plates, so that one of them can be changed so that you have 3 cars with 3 different licence plates.
Cheers

How do I get to the license plate lights to change them?

Make sure that the new shaft you installed has the ABS gearing on the outter CV joint. If it does, inspect the ABS sensor (mounted on the spindle)for damage or dirtyness...clean or replace the sensor. Hopefully this helps

The license plate lights are in the ledge above the license plate. 2 screws keep the lens cover in place. Remove the screws, and the cover comes off. Just pull the lamp out (wedge base) and replace.
