It depends on the spark plugs that have been used. Some are pre gapped, some have three preset side electrodes around the edge. Gapping spark plugs is not as critical as the old days due to modern CDI ignition systems which give a much larger spark and huge improvements in spark plug technology.
Check compression in number three. You could have bought a bad engine. And yes. You need to change every sensor. If they don't match with the plugs. replace the engine. There is a reason for different engine codes. You should have stuck with them.
some vehicles are very hard to reach the spark plugs, but there has to be a way to reach them, usually from only one direction & angle.
they can get with a universal joint & the right length extension.
If I had a nickel for every time a kid screwed my over at the parts store-you only need 4- some old datsuns had 2 per cylinder nothing currently does though- cheers Denny
You may have got the spark plug wires out of sequence.
Reseat the coil wire going to the center of the distributor cap
Check the spark plug wires at the distributor against the firing order as follows:
The spark plug firing order is 1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6
The distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE The engine cylinders / spark plugs are numbered :
firewall 3 - 6 2 - 5 1 - 4 front
Best wishes,
TF
If all the coils are giving spark now, then you moat likely have gas fouled plugs now,so change them out with new ones, all 8 of them.If you do not have spark on all plug wires, pull the timing belt cover, and align the cam shaft and the cam,to see if the belt has jumped. If It hasn`t,replace the crankshaft sensor.
1991-1994 2.9L and 3.0L Engines Firing Order 1-4-2-5-3-6
1995 And Later 3.0L V-6 With DIS Ignition System Firing Order 1-4-2-5-3-6
4.0L Engines Firing Order: 1-4-2-5-3-6 DIS Ignition System
