2004 chevy 2500HD Duramax. Transmission will not engage. Replaced sensor on side of transmission worked for a bit. I have been told that it needs to be a GM sensor?

After replacing sensor...truck seemed to run okay for a short time period. After parking truck, check engine light came on and truck would only move forward slightly. Reverse does not work at all. Had problem in past...disconnecting batteries and resetting worked. NOthing seem to work now. Have been told that sensor needs to be OEM replacement...after market sensors do not work. Sensor installed was from NAPA

SOURCE: Check Engine Light - O2 Sensor - bank 1 running lean

you should have three oxygen sensors on your car, one for each bank of three cylinders; should be towards the Y pipe on each exhaust manifold. Additionally you should have one on the exhaust pipe before the cadilitic converter.

Looked it up in Chilton's, confirmed in http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/

P0481 Cooling Fan 2 Control Circuit Malfunction

Each fan will throw a different code. See 3 fans listed for your model. Here's a link for the wiring schematic: http://www.chiltonlibrary.com/content/images/WD/GM/014/WD_GM_014788.pdf

Best of luck.

SOURCE: 2000 chevy silverado z71 check engine light will not go off.

you have to know what the code is that your truck putting out your truck has 4 O2 sensors. the trucks computer is smart and the code will tell you witch one is bad but if you replace just one the next one on the same exhaust pipe will probley go bad so its safe to replace all four. the draw back to replaceing all of them is thay cost about 80 bucks for one ACDelco O2 sensor. It has to be done before it will pass Emissions. not a hard part to change about a 7/8 open end wrench will take it off. have fun.

SOURCE: where is knock sensor located on 2004 chevy 2500Hd

Under intake manifold on top of block, you need to remove intake to access sensors there are two of them you can't miss them when intake is off. After replacing sensors you need a new intake gasket.

There are wheel sensors at each wheel that look for current when the wheels spin, if one fails then the ABS light comes on.

I swapped out a 2003 4L80E transmission for a 19994L80E transmission that was running fine in my friends Suburban that was working fine whith no trouble but it will not engage now. Any suggestions?

they are different years 1999 is up to 2000/2001 then the 2003 is 2001 to 2004/5. auto box module works different, box's look the same but the sensors are different inside you would need to change the auto module and pair it to your ecu on your engine.

Why is allison transmission on my 2004 duramax getting hot

Cooler lines may need flushed out. Also check to make sure the radiator is clean on the front. If you have an extra cooler for the transmission make sure that is clean also. If you don't have the extra cooler, it would be a good time to add one.

2004 silverado, duramax and allison transmission, upon cranking got note on speedometer view that cannot engage in gear. would not go in reverse.....put in drive rolled forward and then went into reverse....

What kinda batteries do you got? Are the cables any good? Sounds to me like a power/ground issuse. Either that or you have to small of batteries to crank over a high compession enigne when it's cold, with the glow plugs, and heater grid pulling all of the power from the batteries.
And check the trans fluid level for your problem with the trans.
And you're gonna need to be a little more specific on the thunping noise.

In other words it won't start at all? The neutral safety switch may be faulty or a wire came off. It is located on the transmission.

Vehicle: 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4X4 Duramax. Problem, when I trying switching the 4 wheel drive switch to 4LO, the light just blinks continuously.

You should have it put on diagnostic scanner to tell for sure. system needs to be tested. As a mechanic myself, I know these can be done fairlty easy on most vehicles but some can be slightly tricky

Oil pressure sending unit

Hi there;

Your looking foer the oil pressure sensor on the 2004 8.1L.
You will find it located directly behind the EGR valve threaded into the block just to the drivers side of the center bolt for the transmission to block connection.

Thanks
