What scanner should I use for transmission troubles on a 1992 f250 7.3 diesel?

USA? there is no OBD2 connector(until 1996)
back then it was a ONLY FORD OBD1 system (non standard outside of ford) EEC-IV System
uses ford only scan toll $$$$$$$$$
and has blinks codes using a jumper , per the service manual
on all fords made with EFI
the connector is call ASDL , assembly line data link, jack
for FORD only.

Joe there is a way to test the transmission control computer to see if any trouble codes are present> I will check my manuals and get back with on this by Friday 3/28

We don't have Hilux Diesels in the USA. I show a speed sensor in the transmission for a gas engine model. You should be able to see a cable coming out of the trans if it has one.

This means that the Comprehensive Component Monitor (CCM) monitors the operation of the fuel injector drivers in the PCM. The test fails when the fuel injector does not operate electrically even though the harness assembly and fuel injectors test satisfactorily.


Faulty fuel injector driver within the PCM could be the cause.

I suggest to check underhood engine bay, according with this wiring diagram, look under EEC (Electronic Engine Control 1992) or PCM (Powertrain Contro Module 1996-1996)...

wow have you got your work cut out for you
a diesel needs so much more (stuff) than a gas engine
but you'll get better milege with the diesel espesicialy if towing

things right off the top of my head that are different
Power brake booster and master cyl unit
fuel system (yes the entire thing)
EEC for the truck
Electricial system (your gonna need two battery's to fire off the glowplugs)
transmission (torque converter and final drive gearing )
dash gauges (gas tach won't work on a diesel)
tail pipe (4 inch or bigger)

all this stuff is different on a diesel truck

ohh allmost forgot one thing
Front springs Diesels are twice as heavy as it's gas counterpart

hope you got a doaner truck for all this stuff

Look in your owners manual for gallons capacity.of your tank, fill ur car, reset trip drive till ur run out, PS take a FILLED gas container with you. now divide gallons by your miles

sounds like you have a bad relay that is shorted out or you might have a bad fuel injector shorting out fossible fuel pump wireing short do some probing aroun with the multi meter try to find direct short , use the process of elimination .
now let me see does your truck start up and run then fuse blows? is the fuse the correct amperage check your owners manual to see how long does it run before blowing fuse ? when its running is it running smooth while is running?
