Runs fine but security light is always on. CAn it be turned off?

Check the fuel pressure because I have changed many fuel pumps on 1997-2003 Malibus.

Is the security light on and flashing? If not the problem is not the passlock, but if you wish to bypass it here is how you do it. How To Permanently Disable GM PassLock System

Loose battery connections or battery with bad cells. Go to Auto Zone and let them check your battery.

yes they run off of seperate fuse in fuse box. as always check the bulbs first.

TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION FOR 10 MINUTES WITH ENGINE OFF.UNTIL SECURITY TURNS ITSELF OFF.THEN TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH WAIT 5 SECONDS.THEN START THE ENGINE.IF SECURITY STILL ON DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX.

TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH .WAIT 5 SECONDS TRY CRANKING TRUCK.IF STILL DONT CRANK.HAVE TRUCK HOOK UP TO A SCANNER TO CHECK FOR THEFT SECURITY MODE FAULT.

The security system is shutting down your fuel pump for some reason.Have the car checked for security codes.

Here is what you do, but only when the SECURITY light flashes - if it is always ON or OFF it's no use.
Turn the key in the ignition to ON.
Wait for exactly 10 minutes ( SECURITY light will flash for 10 minutes and then stay on SOLID)
Turn the key to OFF
Wait 5 seconds.
Turn the key in the ignition to ON.
Wait for exactly 10 minutes.
Turn the key to OFF
Wait 5 seconds.
Turn the key in the ignition to ON.
Wait for exactly 10 minutes.
Turn the ignition OFF.

Start the car normally.
It has relearnt the keycode and you're good to go.
NOTICE - it takes 30 minutes to relearn, that's THREE cycles of ON - 10 minutes - OFF.

Mine has the same problem. If you have had to turn your iginition to reset the security system ever, after about the 10th time you've done it the light will stay on. You can take it to a dealer and have them deactivate the light if you wish. The car runs fine . My gauges work but if the light bothers you it will cost about $40 at the dealer to turn off.
