What really is happening is the bushings in the transmission are wore. Yes new oil and Lucas will help for a while, but the time is coming when the tranny will a rebuild.

Good day. My neighbor had the same issue. Now what we did was drained as much of the gear oil we could and replaced it with fresh. We also added some Lucas gear oil conditioner. No more shimmy or shake. Even shifted smoother. Hope this helps. Have plenty of rags and please recycle used oil or grease.

2000 Saturn Vue, manual transmission 5 spd, trouble shifting, loud knock (more like a BANG), when shifting into 1st gear... ..constant rattle while driving.....????

Try shifting into first without pressing the gas. If it is a slow decline before engine dies this is normal. If its a dramatic engine death, your clutch is to blame, if it still makes noise then its the gearbox. If you have a Mr. Clutch Autocentre near you they will test your gearbox for free as will many reputable transmission shops.

1986 ford ranger transmission not going into 1st or 2nd gear

If third, forth, and fifth work OK then there could be a selector problem. Does the gear stick go into the correct position? If so then selector and or other internal problem which will require removal
