My clutch on the compressor is very intermittent and the air isn't very cold. I don't think it stays on long enough to get the freon flowing like it should.Any ideas?

This may be a result of not enough freon in the system, not a cause. Recharge and see if that helps.

SOURCE: 1996 toyota celica ac not blowing cold. freon is

The flap that directs cold air and warm air may be stuck in warm air position. This flap is controlled by a vacuum operated actuator that is attached to the vacuum lines and the control panel. This can go bad. Otherwise check in compressor sight glass to make sure there is no air bubbles or fog, that would indicate a leak in the system

SOURCE: AC light blinks and compressor will not run. Freon

Could be bad AC clutch relay. Just replaced mine ($11 at autozone). It is located in the relay box just behind the battery.

1994 ford mustang 3.8 liter a.c. compressor clutch will not stay engaged, blower fan works but not cold. freon is good

What is the pressure in your low pressure side at 80 degrees ambient? Did you use gauges?
U said the clutch will not stay engaged, meaning that it engages and then releases. If so, that means the clutch winding is good but that perhaps you have a loose wire feeding the clutch or a bad, intermittent relay. And if that is not the case then you are LOW in freon and the low pressure cut off switch is disconnecting the clutch when the pressure goes down. Pressure should be around 35 pounds on suction line at about 3000 rpm.

Why on a 05 impala the ac clutch stays on

You are either low or out of Freon.
The cars sensors is telling the motor it's not cold enough so it's staying on which can burn out the bearings if not taken care of ASAP.

Ac won't get cold anymore power to compressor but won't click on clutch won't engage possible problems are compressor or evaporator what do you think?

Has the Freon been checked with a gauge to see if there is enough Freon to allow the system to work. Low or no Freon will not allow the compressor to engage. The low pressure switch is most likely activated due to low freon, and will cause this condition.

I have a 1990 LeSabre Station Wagon that hasn't been run much over the past 10 years. We have run it a little the past year and the air conditioner isn't working. I changed over the fittings to...

this is normal as there isn`t enough freon to keep the clutch on long enough to do anything thus lack of pressure in the system.also there won`t be enough freon and pressure in the system to show up any leak if there is one.

When i turn on ac it blows hot air

Normally due to low freon. Also, notice if the a/c compressor clutch engages, as it will not if the freon is low.

1996 Chevy Tahoe air conditioning not blowing cold air

That "thing" is part of the compressor clutch. When it’s spinning the clutch is engaged, when it stops the compressor is off. If it’s constantly cycling, you probably don’t have enough freon in the system. But remember, however the gas escaped before, it will escape again, unless you fix the leak.

My ac does not blow cold in my 97 cadillac deville but it does blow just not cold and its n ot the fuse what can i do?

You probably have leaked out your freon after so much time. Try adding some more Freon if it doesnt stay charged you may have bigger issues.
