2000 dodge ram 1500 at times will idle rough and sputter

then the normal suspects are...
IAT (intake air temp) sensor
IAC (idle air control) motor
dirty/corroded connections

do you see any specific weather conditions before/during the idle concern like cold and/or rain?

Dodge rm 1500 idles rough

Could be a restricted catalytic converter. Tap converter with hammer and see if it rattles. if does, replace it.

Starts but won't idle

sounds like lost compression maybe, does it run rough when it's on? does it stay on when you give it gas? does it just die or does it sorta choke clunk clunk sputter and die? some more information on the nature of the problem would be very much appreciated.

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 engine sputters at low rpm

hello i am a independent shop owner and i recently had a 01' dodge 1500 5.2L engine and it seemed to have the same symptoms as your car, i checked fuel pressure and it seemed to be around 49 which is still considered normal and also i did check the distributor cap and each spark point had corroded parts on the tips but before i replaced any parts i disconnected the bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor and noticed that the car never sputtered again.. so in my case i recommended to my customer to first replace the o2 sensor! more than likely its bad sparkplug cables, same problem on f-150 they are probably shorting out somewhere in them

Replace your IAC (Idle Air Control Valve)... Known issue that will cause this... You will be amazed at the difference a good part will make.

disconnect the positive battery cable for 2 minutes and that will reset the computer

SOURCE: the idle air control valve

if it is not running,and wont start,pull the idle air control and look at it,,is it stuck all the way out? if so this is ur problem

change the universial joint on your front end.one on the right one on the left
