Why does my1999 Saturn sl1 idle high and seems to want to die when stopping at red light

Intake manifold gasket. Leaking where intake meets head.

spray some carb cleaner on the passeger side of the intake manifold, right behind the alternator. it is very common for those to leak there and cause those exact problems

Clean the Idle Air Control Valve. It's on the throttle body below the Throttle Position Sensor. Worked for me! Good luck.
