Look under the hood. you should find a part under there with two metal thin lines connected to it so that when you push the gas pedal, that part moves up, when released, it should go back down, have someone press the gas pedal and look for it right on top of the engine. is there something blocking it? wiring harness, etc.?
try cleaning the throttle body out first...check engine light on?..possible coolant temp sensor...some problems have multiple causes and are hard to diagnose without actually seeing the vehicle...if you have to hold gas peddle to floor it usually means car is flooded (too much fuel) ...check fuel pressure to see if it bleeds off when not running...could be an indication of leaky injectors or fuel pressure regulator
With the oil light coming on and the brake pedal being hard to press I would say that the engine stopped hence no vacuum -no power assist from the booster.- hard brake pedal. The lock uo feeling may come from the engine seizing up while you were still in gear
When the peddle is pressed really hard the trans is supposed to increase the shift firmness. The problem may be that the engine has some power problem which makes the trans look like the problem. If the engine is not operating correctly power wise hard shifting will occur. If the car has a trans shift cable and it is adjusted incorrectly it will also shift hard. If the trans has vacuum modulator that is out of adjustment or going bad it will also shift hard. Many trans shops will test drive it for free so let the trans shop advise you for free and save some time.
Check all the vacuum lines, sounds like one of them has split, or come off. Have somebody press the pedal while your listening under the hood to see if you can find where the air is coming from.
Just press the pedal enough to hear the air.
