My drivers side door wont open from the outside due to someone using a jimmy stick on it. Now i can hear something flapping inside, presumably whatever was attached to the handle.

This seems to be a well know problem for the Tiguan. First try these.
Lock the vehicle. Stand next to the fuel flap and lower your ear to it. Using the Key Remote unlock the Driver's door ONLY. As you do listen to the fuel flap. If it is working correctly you should hear it 'click'. This is the lock 'actuator', a switch that controls the actual lock on the fuel flap. if it doesn't click it has failed. it will need to be replaced.
If it does click the door is sticking. Unlock the vehicle and tap the flap gently. tap it again 5 or 6 times getting a SMALL amount harder each time. DON'T go hammering on it hard as you'll break something.
Using a PLASTIC or WOODEN lever you could *GENTLY* lever the flap open. Metal will scratch the paint.
Very difficult to do. They sell jimmy kits that can be used through the window trim to get the door to unlatch. A locksmith will probably be able to open it for you or try to get the inside door panel off and manually open door using linkage inside of door.
Other than getting a locksmith, you may have to remove the door panel and take the lock out from the inside. Then replace it or remove the broken key.

You will have to get the door open first and then remove the fasteners etc to release the panel from the door. If you cannot open it from the inside or the outside you will need to use a jimmy tool to hook onto the door lock mechanism inside the door to open it. If you do not have a tool usually CAA/AAA etc or a garage can do this for you.
handles may be in good condition but the lever on the latch itself may have came loose. your mostlikley looking at dismantelling the apolsery with the door closed to rectify it.
On the passenger door,make sure the latch isn't in the closed position(have someone pull on the handle while pulling the latch mechanism with a screwdriver)The drivers side is gonna be interesting.You might be able to get at the door latch mechanism by rolling the window all the way down,and use a coathanger or similar tool to operate the linkage levers that way.
Normally the outside door handle mechanism is the cause of the problem a small bit of plastic that links itself to the door lock, but for the door not opening from the inside I can only presume that you have the child safety lock switch activated, the only way to open up this door is to remove the bottom part of the seat and then removing the door panel.
it appears you have a broken latch the bad news is when your latch breaks like this you will end up destroying the interior door skin in order to get the door open
the good news is that almost any good garage can make the repair quickly
sounds like the door lach is sticking
use some wd40 spray the lock and let it sit 4 a while
now since you have the inside skin off reach inside the door with 1 hand and try and open the door from the outside and see if the lock bar moves it usualy pushes down i think on a lach
if it goes up and down with no resistance make sure it is contacting the lach if yes make sure the door is unlocked
somtimes the lock is just stuck
after unlock open the door
push down on lock bar attached to lock then pull up on it if that fails to open door
after that all fails unlock door have friend pull handle and then give the door a good kick from inside just remember not the kick the glass
