Where is fuel filter on 1998 Volvo S70 non turbo?

How do I replace the fuel filter on my 1998 Volvo S70 sedan (not a turbo)

  • miltkaren Jul 12, 2009

I'm not sure how this picture got on this, but this is a SEDAN, not a WAGON. I'm wondering where the fuel filter is on the SEDAN.

    Thanks

The fuel filter is located underneath the rear passenger seat next to the canister box (the canister looks more like an air filter box housing. All you need is an 1/2 inch key to loosen one screw and pull on one end of the hose/tube to release it from the fuel filter. Pull opposite the unit. your best solution is to look to buy it on line so you have an idea as to what you are looking for then check against the info provided to you. I just did mine 15 mins. next to the rear tire. You will need to jack up the rear tire for easy access

The fuel filter can be located under the carpeted cargo storage floor at the rear of the wagon. Remove the four 10mm bolts, remove the cover. You will then see a removable plate to the right just behind the rear passenger seat. Fuel filter can be seen through hole in hole. Replaced from underneath wagon. Be sure to make sure lines are fully inserted onto filter. Check for leaks. Note arrow on filter for correct fuel flow. Good luck and hope this helps and no smoking please LOL

The 2 vacuum lines off air filter box go where ? 98 S70 Volvo 2.4 non turbo

Since you are a DIYer, I recommend a repair manual from your favorite auto parts store, or try filepeep.com if they have it, or manualslib.com. You will want it next time anyway.

What do I when my 98 volvo s70 2.4L engine has trouble codes po133 & po442?

Po133 is and oxygen sensor code. Replace the front oxygen sensor use a bosch or OE sensor only. P0442 is and evap system leak. Most common fault is a cracked hose at the evap cannister at the right rear of the car.

I have a 98 volvo s70 and i dont know the engine size how do i figure out the difference between 2.3 or 2.4

All S70's have a 2.4 liter. There should be a numbers like 2.4 or 2400cc or something like that. The 7th and 8th vin digit is the engine. 55 is a B 2454 S engine. If unsure call the dealer parts dept and they can tell you, based on the VIN number.

Chain smoker

Turbo oil seal is probably bad. This lets oil leak into the air intake from the turbo bearing. If smoke goes away during hard acceration, then this is probably your problem. Turbo replacement or rebuild is the fix for this.

Odometer does not work

This is a common problem with all models of volvo, with the non digital odometer  pre 1998,, there is a tiny nylon gear deep inside the odometer that needs to be replaced. Your dealer will not fix it, but will put in a new one for you as the cost of fixing in labour is more than a new one,, My solution is much cheeper,, I have
many low milage VOLVO odometer/instr clusters, a few hi'r km 1s

ODOMETERS FROM 1987-PRESENT
I have many pre 1998 Volvo instrument clusters, most with Very low milage, almost all in Km, I have most models of Volvo.

at these prices IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE AN EXTRA ONE , comes with detailed instructions -with pictures-on how to remove your old one and re-install

just for example
I have 4,, 1994-1997 850/s70/v70 /c70turbo with less than 10,000 km
2 1994-1997 850/s70/v70/c70 non turbo with less than 10,000 km
1 1990 740 -940 turbo with less than 4.000 kms

I also have many Volvo instrument clusters from 1987 to PRESENT with varied milage,,let me know what year and model and milage you are looking for,, I will have something close

WILL SHIP ANYWHERE IN N.AMERICA
