We know its a car.
say exactly where the smoke is. "where"
location. location.location.location.location.location.location.location
is EVERY THING !
"where there is smoke there is fire"?
can be or not .

the car has and engine that can smoke many a way
(you never said the SPOT that smokes)
the electrical can smoke , called an electrical fire.
the cooling system can leak an fool it seems all TV reporters "look car is smoking" but any mech can see gee , that is steam. (goes away fast and wisply like)

but the other smoke can be :
oil burning., white.
or fuel burning black.
the problem can be as simple as oil leak. to exhaust parts.
or you through a rod out the side of block.

i say get it serviced, if you can tell exact spot then you need real live human help. not the blind here. we cant see it,and you never posted a photo.

    steam or smoke,?
if you see steam that is a coolant leak (simple) or gross over heated engine
    if smoke lingers long)
that is a blown engine, or PCV hose fell off.
or just oil leaking to and landing on hot exhuast parts.

steam goes away fast, Like moms tea pot.
    smoke stinks like oil burning.
    and lingers.
that steam will smell sickeningly sweet,
    like antifreeze does.

if the smoke or steam is from the tail pipe end, that be a different answer.
if the cat converter, like may car does
it can get a leak at rear of engine and drip to the header and Cat and smokes bad.
    so LOCATION is what matters,
    EXACT !

Turn it off. Dont lift the bonnet until its cooled down.

My 2001 white infiniti Qx4 is smoking heavily

What colour is the smoke? The easiest way to check this is on first start when the engine is cold. This can give clues as to where the problem could be. is the vehicle doing anything else different?
A blue exhaust smoke is commonly oil getting into the cylinders. White smoke suggests coolant getting into the cylinders. Black smoke is the engine running too rich. Blue or white smoke can often mean a blown head gasket. On a 2001 engine that could the most likely reason.

Car wouldn't start, but when it did it was smoking

One thing used many mechanics for diagnosis is: What color was the smoke?
White smoke usually means the engine is failing, and can indicate a leaking head gasklet, a cracked block, or a cracked head. This color smoke is from water and/or coolant getting into the cylinders.
Black smoke indicated too much fuel, and the engine may be "flooded", indicating a less expensidve fix.
Grey smoke indicates oil smoke from worn rings or worn valve stem seals.
The white smoke says you should have someone look at this really quickly to see if immediate attention is needed.

I just bought this tempo it starts but after i have been driving for about 20 min it starts to smoke and it starts to get hot it stops then you hav eto get a jump to start it.

It sounds like you have brought a lemon as if it hard to start when cold then its lacking compression which is worn engine piston rings and valve guides, and if it starts smoking when driving and if its BLUE smoke then its bad piston rings And if its BLACK smoke then its to much petrol getting into the engine which will also cause the engine to wear out quick as its washing the bores with fuel instead of oil,and that will also stop the engine from starting when hot,
SO if its BLUE smoke replace the engine
If BLACK smoke repair fuel fault.

Blue smokes come out tailpipe when i start the car but stops afte

Helllo there
Symptom: Gray or blue smoke from the exhaust. You notice gray smoke coming from the exhaust when you start your car. The smoke may or may not disappear after the car is warmed. If it is, it is less noticeable. The smoke may have a bluish tint to it. Possible causes:

  1. The engine's piston rings may be worn.
The Fix: Replace piston rings. (Generally not a DIY job)
  2. The engine's valve seals may be worn.
The Fix: Replace valve seals. (Generally not a DIY job)
  3. Damaged or worn valve guides.
The Fix: Replace valve guides. (Not a DIY job)
Symptom: Engine uses more oil than normal, and there is some smoke from the exhaust. The oil level is low between oil changes. It appears that the oil is being burned by the engine because of the smoke in the exhaust. You may or may not notice the engine doesn't have the same power as it used to.
Possible causes:

  1. The PCV system is not working properly.
    The Fix: Replace PCV valve.
  2. The engine may have mechanical problems.
The Fix: Check compression to determine engine condition.
  3. The engine's piston rings may be worn.
The Fix: Replace piston rings. (Generally not a DIY job)
  4. The engine's valve seals may be worn.
The Fix: Replace valve seals. (Generally not a DIY job)

My 1998 Rav4 gives off a few seconds of black smoke at engine start. No other problems have presented. Anyone tell me what is going on? Thanks in advance!

You may have an excessive rich mixture due to a sensor malfunction that is causing excessive fuel enrichment., The part that gets me is that you don't have a check engine light on. a 98 Rav4 is an OBD2 vehicle and should have thrown a code and turned on the check engine light ,if you have a bad sensor Black smoke is usually a sign of too much fuel, blue smoke is a sign of oil being burned and white smoke or steam is usually a coolant leak into the combustion portion of the engine, Verify the color of smoke and go from there. Some enrichment at start up is normal because cold engines need enrichment to start and run properly till warmed up.. Goodluck

My 300zx got smoke issue but im not sure.smoke come both sides when i start the car.it got little oil leak from turbos.but once engine got hot the smoke goes away.when driving it doesnt smoke.but it...

It sounds like you may need valve seals.
The oil sits in the head after the engine is cut off and leaks around the seals into the cylinder.
When you start the engine it burns the oil and sends the smoke out of the tailpipes.
It does not hurt anything much if it is not to bad.

My 1994 Ford Thunderbird now smokes when I start it - no noises in the engine, but smokes like crazy. Check engine light is one now?

state what color the smoke is. White smoke is antifreeze. Gray smoke is fuel, and black smoke is oil. Also have the computer scanned so you know why the light is on.
