A month ago, I had shifter replaced. It never seemed to shift properly
If you paid at a legit shop, take it back. It is still under warranty.
I wish I did take it to a shop / friend did it
Did he replace the shifter or cable. What was the problem to start with?
Shifter only / nothing wrong with old one just got a newer looking shifter
Some years can't be swapped. Different throws/lengths on the shifter means you have to at least replace everything from the shifter to the transmission shifter arm. This would be also modifying the cable brackets.

On cars with 4 wheel disc brakes the rear calipers are what they call racheting. The pison needs to be turned clockwise at the same time you are pushing in.This mechanisum is for the E brake system. They make special tools for doing this that you can pick up at your local parts store.

make sure the key is on and you are stepping on the brake pedal.
SOURCE: Shifter is stuck in neutral and will not move
happened to me. There's a cheap plastic retaining clip which holds some kind of electrical cable to the mechanical assembly. THis clip broke on me trying to move the shifter into drive one day. THe shifter was actually able to be placed into park again but the indicator read, "D". I had to remove all the plastic around the steering wheel so that I could view underneath it. Once I located the assembly and discovered the broken plastic retainer I re-connected the cable to it's connector and secured it in place with multiple rubber "o-rings". I'm sorry that I don't remeber the sizes. It's been about a year and 1/2 and the shifter works better than before. Took about one and a half hours to fix after trying different sizes of "o-rings" that I had handy. I'm sure a cotter pin would work as well.
SOURCE: I need instructions on replacing the timing belt
1. Remove the Alternator Belt.
2. Remove the Water Pump Pulley
3. Remove the Air Conditioner Belt and Power Steering Belt.
4. Remove the Crankshaft Pulley.
5. Remove the timing belt cover
6. Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley.
7. Remove the Timing Belt.
8. (If Replacing) Remove Idler Pulley.
Installation is reverse of removal. Keep a close eye on the timing marks on the cam sprockets to make sure you don't knock anything out of whack.
I would strongly recommend replacing the water pump while you are replacing the timing belt. (The water pump usually comes in the timing belt kit.) Otherwise you are going to have to do this all over again when your water pump goes out. Good Luck.
SOURCE: car will not shift into gear
Sounds like a linkage/cable to me. Disconnect the linkage at the transmission and move the shift actuator by hand to see if there is the same things happening. Don't try to do this with the engine running unless someone is holding the brake inside the car.
