The ECU is located on the floor directly behind the radio. You do NOT need to remove any glove box, dash, or vents to access it. There is a black plastic cover with 2 round plastic snaps that cover the ECU. From the driver's side, the cover is directly beside the gas pedal. Pull on the cover to remove it, and there is the ECU. The ECU has (4) 8mm screws that hold it to the mounting bracket. Then it slides out towards the passenger's side.
As for the part number, you need the Consult-II to get it. But you also need a code that is written on top of the ECU if you are looking for a junkyard spare. You can see this code from the passenger's side without removing the ECU from the mounting bracket (You will need a flashlight). The number should be A56-***-** or something like that.
Engine ECU is located in the engine bay, on the driver side(RHD). Body electrical has no ECU (earlier models). Citroen Berlingo uses what is called 'Multifunction Control Modules'. It has 2 of them. One is located in the steering column switch assembly and the other is incorporated inside/underneath the fuse/relay frame in the engine bay. If your Xantia is late model, it may adopt the Berlingo system but I have not seen one that does.
Different make and model of cars have different location for it ECUhowever i most case the ECU is located in the passenger area or engine bay. If it is in the passenger area, most likely it is behind the radio in the center console or behind the glove box.
Check earth point going from the battery to the chassis for a lose or corroded connection, also some cars have a fuse relay right before the positive clamp on the battery. if your headlights turn on when the car is off than it may be a ignition wiring problem. also check the plugs on your ecu.
The ECU is located to under the dash to the right of the steering column. there are 2 nuts located near the top on the right that hold it to the bracket. There are other nuts on the right side but they are not removable, their purpose is to hold the ECU to the black plate. once the 2 nuts are removed simply push the unit to the left and it will drop down and the wiring harness can be unplugged.
the ecu is located on the passenger side under the dash along the kick panel.the connector for the ecu is under the hood on the same side and it is held to the ecu that sticks out a little with a single bolt.this system used an 90 wire plug, and is bolted to the firewall with 2 bolts.
check the fuel pressure to injectors to see if pump is working properly. there should be a schraider valve on engine fuel line under hood to test this. the ecu is located on floor directly behind radio. there is a black cover with 2 round plastic snaps that cover ecu. from drivers side, ecu is beside gas pedal. pull on the ecu cover to remove it. are all fuses and fuel pump relay ok !!
ECU is in the front passenger footwell, high on the right. Its clear that you have no manuals, but you'll need one if you want to do more than stare at it. Unless you install a battery with the polarity reversed, which does destroy the ECU, its is not likely to be the problem on these cars. If its "dead", and the battery is good, the lights come one, the strater turns the motor over, but no fuel no spark then check the fuses in the box on the upper left of the driver's footwell and the ones in the box in the engine compartment in front of the left front wheel. If it isn't totally dead, get the Hayes manual at the local ato parts store and read how to get the ECU codes w/o a tool and go from there.
