SOURCE: 1st time changing oil filter on v6 2008 rav 4,

I just changed my oil on my RAV4 V6 and the first thing is you are not looking for the regular canister but a oil housing like on the old farm tractors. You just replace the inside filter cartridge. The canister is in front on the engine on the passenger side. Use a 3/8 socket to open the bottom and drain. Next use a oil filter cap wrench to remove the housing. Actully this is a less messy than my chevy and more "green."

Filter should be on drivers side of passenger side of car directly between the doors. To change shut off fuel pump relay switch in trunk, remove the clips and change the filter.

Hello mm500539: My name is Roger and I will help. To locate the fuel pump you will need to remove the left rear seat. Remove the carpet. Remove the access cover in the floor pan. Drain off the fuel pressure as it should be under pressure. Do not expose to any spark or flame. Remove the screws holding the fuel pump unit in the fuel tank. Change the pump and reverse the procedure the reinstall the unit. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received as this way i know it was helpful. Oil light comes on

Change your oil pressure sender. The oil pressure sender will usually break before the oil pump will. If you are driving with the oil light on and the motor has not seized the oil pump is probably all right. When your oil light comes on you need to turn your car off immediately so you do not damage your engine crankshaft and camshaft bearings. If you change the oil pressure sender and the oil light stays on then you should replace your oil pump before more serious damage happens to the motor.

Replace the oil pressure sender. The sender is what is turning the warning light on.If you replace the oil pressure sender it should fix the flickering light problem. If it does not , the light is an indication of more serious motor killing problem. Fortunately, the sender is under $10 and usually fails before the actual oil pump.

Where is the oil pump located on the 2001 RAV 4? Our mechanic is estimating it will cost 600+ to replace. ($400 in labor) Checking to see if that is out of line. Thank you so much!

I would call around and get some estimates and find out if your mechanic is being competitive. The oil pump is a big job, and is located in side the oil pan. If I am not mistaken, on the rav4 there is a cross member that goes across the oil pan preventing you from just taking it down. You lhave to unbolt the engine mounts and jack the engine up enough to remove the pan and get to the pump. I would still recommend calling around and getting some estimates. The rav 4 is not known for having oil pump issues. Could you please tell me why your mechanic says you need to replace this part?

Where is the oil pressure sending unit on a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo 4 cylinder engine ? On Occassion, after driving for a few minutes, the oil pressure indicator light will flash and sometimes stay on. Usually,...

Sender unit is situated on the LH side(if you're sitting in the vehicle) of the cylinder block ahead of the starter motor. Problems with oil pressure are rarely because of a faulty sender. Your problem starts once the oil has heated up which would indicate worn internals. Start by replacing the oil and oil filter. If this does not solve the problem other possible solutions are worn Main and big-end bearings, worn camshaft bearings, or worn crankshaft and/or camshaft. All of the above require engine removal.
A problem I have had with my diesel is a failed O-ring on the oil pump. This repair also requires engine removal.
