LXI. How do I open the hood?

front wheel drive vehicles have a fully enclosed gearbox that contains what would be called a differential .Humming could be coming from drive shaft connection to gearbox also the oil , will need to get it up in the air to have a good look, hope this helps

check your spark plug wires and coils

There should be a diagram somewhere under hood. If not, check shop manual (might be able to just look at one a parts store if you feel it is too expensive to buy).

the black cap where it says mitsubishi diesel.
oil should be changed regularly and flushed out along with new filter, just keeping topping up is not good, change according to service manual

slamming the hood shut may have jarred the cruise control unit connections loose check these..

The filter is on firewall side up a way
from what I read,on an angle & drains
with no mess

First problem: adding motor oil. Open the hood of the car, there is usually a lever or handle with a picture of the hood on it, pull that to open hood. Find OIL FILLER CAP and remove. Find the Oil Dipstick and check oil level FIRST! Do not overfill engine oil. Open container of oil and pour in to oil fill hole. The dipstick will have marks on it to let you know where the FULL LEVEL is, do not overfill. Electric should return once engine has sufficient oil in it. For brake problems, please bring your car to the nearest brake shop.

the hood latch has come apart on inside of vehicle there is a cable behind hood latch is it connected to back of latch if you have your oil changed at at a oil changeing place they will check all your fluids for free for you take a small pair of plyiers pull on metal part on cable hood should come open

You must go through the front grill. If you cant do that try under the front of the car so you can reach the latch

they make oil drain plug repair kits for this problem, contact NAPA or Carquest for detailes, no need to replace the oil pan.
