check the anti lock solinoid to the rear brakes, it has a valve and a resiviour in it, it is in the line to the rear brakes, usually the valve or diaphram goes bad, easiest way to check it is to bypass with a piece of brake line

Check the fuse-able link going to the cab portion of the firewall, check by gently pulling apart on the wires on either side of link.

It is likely the electronic ignition control module. When they go, they just go bad and usually when you are driving.

If it was a smaller vehicle it could also be a timing belt but your's has a heavy duty valve train so no worries there.

How to replace the factory casper/camber equipment on a 1992 gmc 1/2 ton truck? I am told there are knock out that need to be taken out?

1. Original control arm does not allow adjustment of caster and camber. caster and camber may be adjusted only by using adjustment kit ( gm # 15538596 ) Raise vehicle, and support under lower control arms.
remove and discard upper control arm to frame bracket bolts, nuts and washer.

2. remove large washers welded to upper control arm frame brackets. remove wield beads from upper control arm brackets. grind area smooth. install adjustment cans to bracket.

3. install bolt, adjust caster and camber to specifications by rotating bolt head.

How to replace lower control arms on 1987 Toyota 1 ton pickup

Disconnect stabilizer bar and shock. Remove Lower ball joint. Remove the two bolts that hold the lower suspension arm to the frame. A lot of times the later model trucks these bolts are completely seized requiring them to be cut and you will need to special order the bolt and bushings from the dealer.

How do I replace the upper Control arms on My 1979 chevy 1/2 ton pickup. I saw a replacement control arm that has the bushings and ball joints already installed. I'm trying to save the high labor cost that...

Since the new arm comes with the bushings, there is no reason to get the tool to install them. Upper arms are relatively easy to install...just a bolt out, bolt in operation as the springs aren't involved. Support the suspension under the lower control arm to take any tension off the upper arm.

How do you remove the front drive shaft in a 1999 Chevy 1/2 ton 4X4?

Jack up front end, and put on stands. Remove wheel. Remove large nut on end of drive shaft. Remove lower control arm, from wheel hub bearing assm.
Push drive shaft back toward transmission.
Now that drive shaft is free, you must "pop" it out of transmission output.
You can use a pry bar, but be careful not to damage anything.

What is the torque trquirement for the 1975 chevy 1/2 ton SB truck. there are 6 bolts on each side.what is the torque setting for the upper and lower control arms on sam truck?

For the upper:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal. Before tightening the nuts to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm) for 1/2 ton trucks, or 105 ft. lbs. (142 Nm) for 3/4 and 1 ton models. Have the front alignment checked, and adjusted.

For the lower:

Tighten the U–bolts to 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm) for 1970–75 1/2 ton trucks, to 110 ft. lbs. (149 Nm) for 3/4 and 1 ton models; all other trucks tighten to 85 ft. lbs. (115 Nm). Have the front suspension alignment checked.

1996 chevy 1/2 ton pick up steering feels very heavy

This usually happens when pump has internal wear, lowering pressure output. Not always noisy either. If caster is set too far positive that can make heavy wheel as well. If pump dosent make enough difference, take one alignment shim out of the rear of each control arm and install at front pack. This may change toe in a bit so watch tires and adjust accordingly.
