Does a 1988 5.7L k1500 have a starter r

a little longer before cranking.

what does that mean?

dont crank,
cranks slow.
cranks (Fast) called normal.
cranks fast starts, then stalls.
cranks fast, starts easy, starts, runs and stays running, normal
at what point does it fail, and how exactly.

we can't hear it, or watch you, so...................................

Check the sensors on the transmission. May just be corrosion on the sensors or it may be a faulty sensor. Also, the torque converter bearing may have went bad due to the running it on low transmission fluid.

okay try replacing the starter solenoid on the fenderwell. I am knowledgeable in the older fords but that might be it..

Do you have 12 volts at the large post and at the small wire coming from the key switch when the starter will not turn ?
There is a neutral safety switch in the circuit that could have failed.

automatic hubs?? if so chances are they put grease into automatic hubs, which will cause sticking. hard apply, hard release..

Shift modulator on the transmission may be bad, or clogged filter. Maybe time to changed oil and filter. Also a simple adjustment on the trans kickdown cable, or a new cable. The cable can stretch enough to cause a shifting problem.

try a new ground on the tranny, I had a 87 dodge that had tranny problems and it ended up bein a bad ground on the tranny, not sure if it is your problem, but its a thought

randomly will not start 3 times?????? Won't start how ? When you turn the key to start ,nothing happens or the starter engages an spins the engine but won't start an run ?

when a battery is weak it wears the starter down. i'd say the starter is bad now. it problably just clicks when you turn the switch

sounds like a linkage problem to me. but if you have changed transmission fluid I know newer models require mopar trans fluid. might want to check into
