Hi, it sounds like a sensor switch is sticking then eventually releasing.

this is the many problems with Merc Benz. These guys have their own Coding system so you have to return to them to get it fixed. They sell you the car but they have many 'gotchas' so you are stuck going to them for maintenance. It should be against the law.
try to find a Merc Benz Forum that may know what those codes mean

what codes? will probably be a 300 - 308 or a lean code. need codes could be bad plugs or wires could be fuel filter or pump. without codes cant tell. also when check enging light flashes it means stop as engine or cat damage could result

count the flashes and the spaces between flashes .This is a fault code reading (as in morse code) so you have long and short flashes with long or short periods between flashes. Take it to a special service centre and have the code read.

READING CODES USING MIL (CHECK ENGINE) LAMP

Be advised that the MIL or CHECK ENGINE light can only perform a limited number of functions and it is a good idea to have the system checked with a scan tool to double check the circuit function.

1. Within a period of 5 seconds, cycle the ignition key ON - OFF - ON - OFF - ON .
2. Count the number of times the MIL (check engine lamp) on the instrument panel flashes on and off.

The number of flashes represents the trouble code. There is a short pause between the flashes representing the 1st and 2nd digits of the code. Longer pauses are used to separate individual 2-digit trouble codes.
An example of a flashed DTC is as follows:


Lamp flashes 4 times, pauses, then flashes 6 more times. This denotes a DTC number 46. Lamp flashes 5 times, pauses, then flashes 5 more times. This indicates a DTC number 55. DTC 55 will always be the last code to be displayed.

12 and 55. The 55 means end of code session, the 12 means no distributor reference. Both of these codes are normal with the engine not running, so do not go out and purchase a dstributor.
