A little bit of oil in "chamber" is ok and normal on these vehicles. However, can seep down and cause these conditions. Clean out the oil in the spark plug well first, before removing plugs. Put a new set of AC Delco 41-103 's spark plugs in there. IF it happens to be water in sparkplug wells on #'s 5 or 6, replace or fix your hood seal, common problem and will ALSO cause these exact conditions you describe.

Rough idle on 99 chevy metro 1.3l engine. changed plugs good pickup but intermittent misfires. even when idling. also leak in exhaust system.

First thing, fix leaking exhaust, this can cause erratic idling...second thing, remove and clean IAC valve and MAF sensor..dry and replace, also try putting some SeaFoam in the petrol, engine oil and air intake, let sit for 10 minutes then go for 10-15 min drive...suggest you change engine oil shortly after driving about 5000kms, if the oil is old..

Did you get any codes on the misfire? If you did not, test ignition coils, test vacuum, test fuel injectors, verify correct plugs..That's right, anything from a fouled spark-plugs to burned cylinder head valves can cause a misfire. Whatever the root cause of the misfire, the bottom line is that one or more cylinders are not contributing to total engine power output. This leads to power loss, rough idle, unstable RPM and bad gas mileage...cheers

Why does my 2001 chevy duramax smoke when it idles

This happens when the vacuum in the manifold is at maximum and the air is drawn down past the valve stems into the combustion chamber. IT takes oil with it and so when you increase the RPM's ( moving off at lights)the burnt oil in the exhaust is expelled as a cloud of smoke . The fix here is to replace the valve stem seals that have gone hard/cracked and are no longer sealing on the valve stems

All automatic ZX2's have a rough idle in gear. Ford even put out a TSB and tried to fix it with no success. The engine is internally balanced and does not have a harmonic dampener. This means you get all of the engine vibration transferred to the frame. I own three ZX2's, my sister has one, my friend has two, they all have rough idle in drive.

The noise you get from the oil filler is normal to an extent. It is an overhead cam engine so you will hear noise from the oil filler. The oil you see on the spark plugs is likely from the valve cover gasket. That is the only place the oil can come from and get onto the top of the spark plugs. It can't travel through the spark plug threads and get on top from the combustion chamber.

It is good you replaced the PCV valve (I know it is hard to reach) but did you replace the breather? There is a round black box with a hose coming from the intake that goes onto the top of the valve cover. This is the air inlet for the PCV and if it gets clogged it will allow pressure to build up in the crank case.

Eng. shakes spits/sputters oil in spark plugs

I just had this fixed on my suby today. The cause is that the spark plugs, go through the valve covers on the 2.5 l .When the o rings in the cover go, the result is oil in the spark plugs. The cost of the repair in Canada was about $500 including diagnostics as well as new plugs and wires About 1.5 hours labor and new seals and gaskets. It now runs like new. This is a common problem for this subaru engine as well as for the dodge neon.
