Determine if it trans fluid(red) or engine oil. If the trans pan gasket is leaking, drain it (By slowly remove the pan) and replace it. Don't use the rubber gasket. Use cork or silicone. If oil, coming between the engine and trans. This would be a rear main seal on the engine. Trans has to be pulled to replace it.
Trans filter is in the bottom. Drain fluid from the transmission pan and remove the securement bolts for the pan. Replace the filter, put the pan back on with new gasket, and refill the transmission with same amount of fluid removed.
purchace a new pan gasket and filter . put car on hoist . remove pan bolts use a screw driver pry pan carrfully from trans mission being careful not to bend pan edge [gasket seals there] pour oil from pan into pail with out spilling . wipe floor of any drips so you dont slip . remove filter 2 bolts normaly replace filter make sure o ring if it has one hasnt fallen out . clean and replace pan torque bolts to 28ft lbs . lower car fill with 3 liters oil start, idle ,check level add till full dont over fill dont hurry . let run for a bit look under car foe any leaks this is a basic trans filter oil change for all makes.
This area between the engine and transmission is where the front main seal is for the transmission. This could be a leaking seal or also the pump gasket. You could try some new transmission fluid with an additive to stop leaks. This would be the easiest, least expensive fix. To replace the seal the trans. has to come out of the car, and there is always other parts that will need to be replaced along with the seal or the new one will not last long. Hope this helps Fix Ya up.
even if you bought a new trans pan gasket it will still leak this is a easy repair get a new gasket and silicone (gasket making silicone) use bothe gasket and silicone that the only way you will stop a leaking pan gasket and yes its simple
if you changed the trans oil pan and used a gasket it probably will leak ,most dodges use mopar atf-rtv sealer available at the dealer for the trans pan,,if it is leaking between the trans and tcase you will have to determine which unit is leaking fluid and replace the seal and gasket between them you can put oil dye in the tcase fluid and run it and use a dye light to see if the fluid leaking has dye in it and if not then it is the trans
The pan needs to be removed to change the filter. Use a large pan to catch the oil and remove the pan bolts slowly or you will have a big mess. After you have replaced the filter, Clean and reinstall the pan using a new gasket. This should stop the leak if the old gasket was bad. Dont over tighten the bolts. Measure the oil drained and install the same amount of new fluid through the trans dip stick. Start the engine and shift through all the gears with brake on. Check fluid and add if necessary. Not a bad job, just a little messy..
Only so many places these trans 41 TE can leak on the vans. Lines on top, speed sensors(input, output)one is below the lines the other is to right of the lines. Dipstick tube, trans solenoid gasket, Oil pan & extension gasket. Wipe off & clean area very well. Lines leaking, check clamps first before replacing. Speed sensor leaking replace o ring, Dipstick tube replace o ring, Trans solenoid replace gasket, Extension plate replace gasket If the pan is leaking you change the trans filter & put a gasket on the pan. The book says RTV on the pan, but FelPro make a gasket for the pan $6.99. Use a Chrysler trans filter!!!! O rings for sensors, tube around $3 each, trans solenoid gasket $3, extension gasket $10, Filter $11 + gasket $7 & 4qts trans fluid if doing the filter or extension gasket.
