Radio works but no sound ? confused

no actual problem told, just a hunt
does radio work IGN key turned on ?

is this and audio sound question.
the users guide in the glove box lost? covers fuses.
the book is free.
chevy come new with 3 to 8 radio options, what is in your car ive no clue.


30amp fuse and accessory relay?marked POWER in box 2.
radio also used, DOME fuse, box1. (radio memory fuse)
radio uses CIG fuse box1. this fuse is main power to radio.
the service manual is best, and is what I just did, blind , no symptoms told.

ALL THAT ANs NEVER SCANNED THE PCM ONCE.
TO SEE RADIO COMMUNICATION ERRORS ON THE NETWORK
yes this radio and all sub units run off the CAN_BUS network.
OR THE SAME ACT SHOWS RADIO, LICENSE CODE LOST.
MODERN CARS NOW EVEN PULLING THE MAIN 12V CAR BATTERY THE RADIO GOES DEAD. (OFFLINE) THE DAY1 NEW ARE THE GLOVE BOX IS OPENED
AND A TAG IS THERE, SAYS DO NOT LOSE THIS LICENSE. CODE
PUT IT IN A SAFE PLACE IT STATES.
THIS ANSWER IF FOR FACTORY oem CAR AND RADIOS.
or ask VOLVO for help, why skip that?

the service manual shows where are fuses reside
some cars have 3 fuse boxes
engine bay
cab
and trunk, <<< some cars with rear amps have fuse here too.
read the service manual and the matching radio page schematics.

well it can only be 2 things
1: no 12vdc to head, (use a 10 buck voltmeter from walfart>?)
2: head end is dead.

25amps is the wrong, fuse. even 10 amps is good for 140watts.
the fuse is stated in the operators guide lost that?

do is use ,yes, the voltmeter again, to measure bothsides of fues
keyon, radio on, to check all fuses related to radio (audio)
12v on both sides wins
if 12v makes it to the Radio and amp (if external amp then that too must have power, for sure) then the radio is bad, or amp.
if the radio scans and finds stations(not stated) then the amp might
be bad or lost power.

newer factory cars have antithieft in the radio'
some the stations scan and tune but the it kills only the speakers.
look again at the dial, and state full symptoms. we are blind
check the radio fuses. some cars have amp with its own fuse.
cars come new with like 4 or more audio sytssem optioms.

what are they, radio, AM and FM dead, cassette, CD,?
if only the radio is dead. (static) then the antenna is bad or its lead in coax wire is bad. or fell off. etc.
the amp (audio is good) as you heard the static.
you can unplug the antenna, wire, from radio and plug in any
lenght of wire to test the radio, any radio can be bench tested this way. and is in any shop.

its very rare today for any head end radio unit to be only a radio.
so do the other features (other audio sources work?) try them.
if they work then the antenna is bad.

If it's fuse 36, it should have a 15 amp fuse.
Do not confuse this fuse with the radio backup fuse, which is 7.5 amps but runs a lot of other circuits.
Put in a 15 amp fuse.
If it burns, the lighter may have a short.

first if you smoke and was using the cig. lighter look at the element in the lighter and inside the cig. housing may need replace.will cause fuse short open. next get a volt meter and test fuses for 12 volts.the horn may be on a seperate fuse and you may have bad horns or a relay.again you need to unplug the horns and check for voltage on the horn wire when the horn button is pushed.no voltage then remove steering wheel cover and test for voltage threw the horn switch.

check for a shorted to ground positive wire repair as nesseacry

sounds like a body fuse or lighter fuse. Check fuses with a test light

i had this problem , all you need to do is hook the ground wire from your new radio to the braided wire that hooked on your old radio and insert a bolt in the hole and tightin ,then check fuses and your dash lights will work and dome light.
