It runs flat and temperamental when starting. Recently serviced.
SOURCE: fuel filter changed and now fuel line is airlocked
try taking off the line where it meets the efi housing and running the pump until the burping stops
SOURCE: A3 2.0 TDI changed radiator, how do you bleed the system
If you have no radiator cap that can be removed, you will probably have to do repeated cycles of engine temperature and just add coolant to the overflow until the engine stops draining it.
This isn't like a hydraulic (brake) system so the chance of leaving bubbles behind is far less.
With a radiator cap, it's pretty simple; run the engine until the coolant is visibly circulating and add coolant as the level drops.

Audi 1.9 TDI and 2.0 TDI engines with pump-nozzle injection system, (year 2005 included), don't have permission to run with Bio fuel !!!
First you must replace fuel filter, interflow a quality Diesel additive (for 60 liters Diesel fuel dosage) fill up tank with Diesel fuel and run at least 300 km on highway at 3000-3500 rpm in 4-th gear.
I recommend you Foerch Diesel Reiniger System additive! I use this additive from 3 years ago and is certified on Audi TDI engines!

Remove ignition key and test remote if o.k repeat for other remotes adding extra positions by sitting indicators flash. position 2 will be two flashes. if no flashes then get the fault memory read.
