2010 ford explorer won't start. No lights on dash or power anywhere. Battery less than a year old.

Make sure battery has a full charge and connections, positive and negative, all good. Use a digital multimeter across battery posts, everything off, the generic spec for a full charge is 12.6 volts. Leave meter leads touching battery posts, have helper turn key to crank, does voltage drop? How far?
If battery down, use a charger and get it charged up, check your charging system. Use a test light and check voltage at fuses in fuse box, some fuses hot all the time, some go hot with key on. good luck

My 1995 chrysler new yorker wont start. i turn key and get nothing. battery is charged and starter does not crank.

If the dash lights up, but no crank, it could be the anti-theft system, or the neutral safety switch, among other things.
Have you tried cranking it in neutral ? Do you have power at the starter post ?
Does everything else work when you turn the key on ?

99 suzuki vitara v6 turns on all power but wont

the starter uses 10x more elect. power than the head lamps
or 100x more than dash lamps. it means little.
what matters most is jumper cable starts.
does it crank with jumper cables to a running, donor car,(aaa jump)
no bad starter
no, bad starter key line( immobliizer or such) ask how to test.
yes, cranks great, now.
that means the battery was dead,
i charge the battery and it now cranks, due to lights left on or
charge system failure, if battery goes to 13.3 to 15v running good
if on the charge system failed. (causing battery discharge)
if after charging a battery it will not crank car, its a bad battery (jumps ok)

if auto, wiggle the gear shifter, cranking,
if Stick wiggle the clutch, cranking.
got a volt meter?. is battery at 12.6v ?

if battery is good, hot wire the solenoid
crank now? yes, then key line is dead.
if not, the starter, battery or cables are bad.

try jump starting it. if that works the battery was
1; bad.
2; not charged, and ALTenator system is bad. note i said system.

My 1998 ford escort stop running no lights

start with the battery. needs at least 11 or 12 volts to start the car. By no lights, do you mean nothing, absolutely nothing comes on? no lights on dash when you turn key to on? If so, need to check battery connections. are they both tight and clean? Is battery fully charged? Before you can diagnose the car you musthave a good battery that is fully charged. Then you can try and start it. If it still wont start or crank over you may have a main fuse out that would be under hood near battery.

2001 GMC Sonoma. SLS 6 Cyl 4 WD 4.3 Vortec. I turn the key on and nothing happens. My dash lights up, all lights come on, fuel pump runs, starter relay clicks, Still nothing. I replaced the starter,...

Tilt the steering wheel down all the way and see if it starts, if it does then there is a main power wire loose in the steering columb. Thats all which comes to my mind at this time.

1993 suzuki sidekick, when I turn on the engine nothing happens, I can jump start it and it works. some times it works fine when I turn it on but lately more often it's not doing anything. I tried jumper...

This sounds like a bad starter, it has dead spots and when it lands on one sometimes the jump starting will make it start due to extra power, check to be sure the battery is good then make sure the battery connections are good and if all of that looks good then its got to be the starter, you will need to test it, a testlight will be needed to do this, you will need someone to hold the key in the crank postion and you will use the test light to check for power at the starter, there are to cable going to starter a big one and a small one. the big cable that connects to the starter comes from the battery and has power at all times, then theres a small wire, this is the wire you check, you will see it bolts or slides onto connector on the back of the starter, with key in the crank postion test for power at the small wire if theres power then the starter is bad, good luck, hope this helps.johnjohn2_83.jpg

Lost power

Does the starter works? If it will not, maybe your problem is in the ignition switch.
