Yes, depending on your vehicle there will be 2 fans, 1 for AC and 1 for cooling engine, when AC is on both fans will be running constantly, with AC off 1 fan will come on only when vehicle reaches and sustains a determined temperature.

SOURCE: When I turn the Ac on, the Ac fan on the radiator kicks on and off consistently. Also effecting the idol of the car. Ac does blow cold air.

I would consider that behavior normal.

Testimonial: "I know it's supposed to turn on when the AC comes on, but it literally comes on for 2 seconds then goes off, then 5 seconds later comes back on for a couple seconds then goes off agin. And it repeats that."

I have a 1991 MBZ 2.6 Liter. The front has two fans that are in front of the radiator...All of a sudden the fans are running, when the motor is running; Please tell me what the fans are for ,and why they...

The fans are radiator cooling fans. They are temperature controled so when you first start your engine in the morning they should not run - UNLESS you start it with your AC on. If you turn your AC on one of them should start operating and the other one will kick on when your engine starts getting hot.

Fan dont work but when i turn on cooling system two fan work please give me lay out for cut-off and fuse

If you have two electric fans the fan on the passenger side of the vehicle is the radiator cooling fan, that fan should run when the motor gets to hot. The fan on the driver side is the ac condenser fan that fan runs only when the a/c is turned on. The only time that both fans run is if the a/c is on and the motor or coolant is above normal tempeture.

I have a 1997 Honda Accord ex that's running hot only when the ac is on. When im parked and have the ac on it doesn't run hot until i start driving for about 20 mins or so. Both fans are coming on...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. The fans should come on as soon as you turn the a/c on. There shouldn't be any delay. You could have a bad water pump, valve, or impeller. A bad head gasket can cause overheating also, but I would look into the pump first. Do the flush first. It may help. If it doesn't, look at the water pump.

I have a 1998 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 4x4 it is running a little hot, the air cooling is not good, as I inspected the water, it was rusty and milky. do you think I need to replace the thermostat? oR JUST A...

Several things may be the culprit:

Fan relay - this tells the fan to turn on when the AC is turned on - $50 part DIY
Thermostat - should be in the front of the engine on top with hose running to it - $9 part DIY
Radiator Fan shot - u can replace the fan motor for about $100 DIY
Coolant temperature sensor - tells the fan to kick on when the coolant gets to a certain temp

While the engine is running and warmed up, lift the hood and listen or look to see if your radiator fan is running (the fan should kick on around 190-210degrees) if not, turn on the ac and and see if the fan starts running, if not, your fan motor is bad

Hope this helps

We put a brand new radiator in my mazda 323, but now when we start the car, the temperature rises at an extreamily fast rate. i noticed that both the radiator fans are not working. i have no idea why

one fan is for the AC while the other is used with the motor heat,, when you replaced the radiator did the new one have the same number of fins,, Hope so,, next check the thermostat you may have dislodged some sludge thats preventing it from doing its job correctly you may have to replace it too ,, as far as the fans ,, check once the motor is heated up with the ac off that the one fan is working, then turn on the ac to see if they both kick on, If not,, check the fan relays and fuses

1997 dodge neon is running hot

What is the mileage? Check the reservoir for coolant, when the engine is COLD,... I repeat COLD, check the radiator for fluid. If fluid is present, check to see if your fans are working properly, turn your AC on and your fans in front of your motor should kick in within minutes.

If you have coolant in the reservoir and radiator (suspect a new thermostat, replacing the radiator will benefit greatly too)

If your fans do not turn on within minutes, replace your radiator fan relay.

89 jeep cherokee overheating

Ok, fans work but you should replace temp. sensor so they come on automatic. If the temp gauge inside the car is getting really hot its either because the termostat is stuck closed or your water pump is pumping water to circulate it through the radiator and engine
