Could be the idle air control valve. If it starts cold just fine, but dies after it's warm. It could be stuck in one position. The iac controls the amount of air that the system pulls in. When cold, it allows more air in to be mixed with fuel. As the engine warms up, it should close a little and allow less air for fuel air mixture. If stuck closed it will choke out the system and cause it to die. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Hi there I am technology tech mechanic I work on electric and man. I come from long line of mechanics I am 5gen have you check your belts and pully like water pump etc. Also cat Canto.also vac pump and lines! If you have a fuel pressure reg you should have a fuel return mod but to be honest I am not sure if it has the return mod I think it does! Have you did a leak down test for your fuel system and does it have two gas tanks if so try the tank switch. But I bet you have a circuit open! Do a voltage drop testing on it po to po, nev to nev with out a load and with a load on it (load is starting)the starting system volt' should not dros below 9.4* volts I am got my money on circuit open that what I do first to do be sure you are using volt drop with load not ohms have you try the Intera fuel pump kill switch
Email me let me know and if you need anything else ([email protected] )

Thank you God bless and good luck hope I hoped

I have I have an 87 Ford Ranger starts no problem runs great turn the corner it dies starts crapping out on me and then it don't start running again what would make that do that

It's a fuel or ignition spark related problem. You really need to check fuel pressure if this is throttle body fuel injection, and not a carburetor. TBI fuel pressure is not real high, about 15 psi, but if the pump is acting up or the fuel line is clogged, then it won't run good.

Or when it dies and won't restart, jump out and see if there is spark on a plug wire. The ignition system consists of an ignition coil, a sensor of crank position -probably a pick-up coil inside the distributor, and an ignition control module. Or on Fords, I think this is called the TFI module, the little rectangular box fitted to the outside of the distributor, with a lot of wires to it.
So there is some direction for you-gas or spark is not good. BTW, when was last tune-up?

2.8 engine Would start when cool, but stall after

89 cierra? It should be DIS ignition so you can't have the timing too high. You said it has fuel and spark. Fuel pressure and injection pulse. Does it try to start if you spray carb cleaner into it?

I have a 1993 tioga motorhome with a ford 460 engine. Last summer in the heat I drove for about 1.5 hours before it just died. I sat for about 20 minutes it started up and ran fine for another hour and a...

I'd be tempted to have fuel pressure checked, if at all possible, when it quits. If nothing else, carry a can of quickstart with you, and when it quits, remove air intake at throttle body inlet, and open throttle plate and give a good squirt of quick start, then try to start it. If it starts for a second or 2, then you know you have spark, but no fuel. I've seen fuel pumps work good while cool, and cut -out when it gets hot. Then sit and let pump cool off for 20 minutes or so, then pump up to pressure again and away we go, until it gets hot again. You might also find if you park in the shade, you'll get further, or even on a full tank. Another good idea would be to change fuel filter in case fuel pump is working too hard pushing fuel through a plugged filter, and causing low fuel pressure.

Car dies when accelerate. do i need new fuel pump?

Hello;
It sounds from your description that the fuel pump is weak. To check the fuel pressure you need a fuel pressure test gauge for fuel injection. Attach the gauge to the test port schrader valve and turn the ignition to the on position. Record the reading. Now start the engine and record that reading. Unplug the pressure regulator vacuum line and record the reading.
The pump should have pressure with in specs but if low, start with the installation of a new complete pump. It is located in the fuel tank. Also replace your fuel filter.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks;
