Code 12 means that the battery input to the PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key cycles (this is a normal condition).
Code 55 means that you have reached the end of the codes. This is also normal
So if you have a 12, 55 code readout, you basically have no error codes stored.
Here is a link that lists the code sand what they mean.

Absolutely the same answer I would have given. This is correct.
Thanks! I try to avoid answering any question if I don't feel comfortable with my knowledge of or research into it. Guessing at the answer(s) can make the issue worse for many of these folks. Of course, it always helps if they ask the question that it can easily be understood, as this person did.

SOURCE: engine diagnostic codes
I don't have a dodge ram but the codes for the dodge vehicles where pretty much the same. For my intrepid the codes read for the following numbers
12 - Problem with battery connection (This usually happens if you disconnect the battery)
21 - Problem with the oxygen sensor circuit
52 - Oxygen Sensor signal input indicates rich mixture during engine operation.
It sounds like you may need to change an oxygen sensor. Hope this helps.

12 is a battery disconnect within the last 50 start cycles and 55 means the end of the diagnostic cycle. Basically the computer found nothing wrong. The 12 code may seem incorrect if you haven't disconnected the battery recently, but from my experience the 12 code shows up almost all the time regardless.

12 means the battery has been disconnected sometime in the last 255 starts. 54 is refering to the pickup plate in the distributor, sometimes called a cam sensor. 55 is the end of the test
