Make sure to use safety stands when ubder the vehicle when raised up.Look in the area behind the oil filter.Just in front of the knock sensor. This will be just above the oil pan rail. The knock sensor is a round sensor with a round plug. The crank sensor should hove a oblong plug. You should have a picture along with this reply. Should you need any further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received as this way we know you recived helpful information. SOURCE: Replace crankshaft position sensor

Remove the left front wheel....(drivers side). Remove all accessory belts. Remove the crankshaft shaft pulley.......remove the plastic lower timing belt cover.....and there it is! It is mounted with one bolt.
The wiring runs down the right side of the timing cover while looking at it from the drivers side of the car.

Testimonial: "I ended up having my mechanic do the work. He did say he had to move all those parts to get to the sensor. "

Cant locate the crank position sensor

I imagine this car could have a 4 or a 6 cylinder. Take it to an autozone and let the guy behind the counter figure out which engine you have and in the process of selling you a new crank sensor, have him show you where it goes. They have a little parts

Looking for the crankshaft sensor on a 3100 v6 1997 Buick Skylark...I know it's on the firewall side...need something a little more specific...

I would like to encourage you to consider buying the service manual for your car; they can answer questions such as your current one and help you decide if an estimate you have gotten appears to be fair or not.
