I had a Camaro that did the same thing. Mine was a bad security module in the steering column. It reads the chip in the key. It looks for the chip just after the engine starts.

SOURCE: starting problem

it could be your mass airflow sensor could be dirty. clean this and your throttle body out with carb cleaner and see if that works. Other sensors that might cause this problem include the O2 sensors, or the idle control motor. If this does not fix it then the alternative would be to replace the throttle body unit.

you have to take it to GM dealer to get that problems fix due to your computer effects security and ignition. did you by chance disconnect the battery for any reason or removed the radio? your computer need to be reset and your key fob don't even reconized its own remote. GM vechicle is known to have common problems with the radio removal and dead battery reset the computer it self. hope that help some..good luck!

The computer should be giving you a code without the code I would be guesing because I have seen this problem before. The usual cause of this problem is the Cam Sensor. Hook up a OBII code reader or get the computer scanned and I am almost positive it will be the Cam Sensor.

99 chev S10 4.3.Will start right up then immediately die.If I do this 20 times, same thing.Starts right away and just as fast die.

Check your security system. My info says you have passlock security system. Is there a security lamp that stays on when you try to start it? There is a relearn procedure, don't know if you have tried it? There could be other issues? Any applicable trouble codes?

Car wont start without a jump all lights on dash are on it starts then dies right away on 97 olds achieva

Seems you may have more than one problem. A few questions you must answer first. If you have to jump it to start it,then your battery is dead are you have a draw draining the battery. Now if it dies right away look at your security light and see if it is on. Probably your security system is thinking someone stole the battery and shuts the fuel system down. Change the battery and Google the reset security system on 1997 Olds Achieva and you probably be set to go

You'll need to know if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel to the injectors.
Could be a faulty relay, fuel pump, or other component.
Does the van have a security system ?

Gmc savana security light on starts but dies right away seems as though the ground side of injectors stops pulsing what could cause this?

Perhaps the security key is not working with your car, but I am surprised that it would start at all with that working against your trying to start and run the car.

Van dies after 10 min drive when pulling into

Try removing the idle speed motor on side of throttle body, and spray it clean, as well as the port it came out of, with throttle body spray cleaner. Don't pull and extend shaft of idle motor, just leave it in position it's in, and make sure you don't lose small "O" ring on idle motor. Re-install and try it. If it cures it for a while, then starts to do it again, replace the idle speed motor.

I have a 1996 Plymouth Voyager van that dies and starts

The very 1st thing that must be done here to start diagnosis of this problem is to have the PCM (powertrian control module) scanned for fault codes, that is key to fixing this right first time. In most area's Autozone and O'reilly auto parts do this test for free (except California).

Sounds like your Passlock security system went into the tamper mode. If your dashboard security light blinks when the ignition is turned on, your Passlock security system is disabling the injector module, preventing the car from start. Try this:
1- turn the ignition on and just touch the starter, without getting the motor to fire, then leave the ignition in the "on" position. The security light will blink for about 10 minutes. When the light stops blinking, turn the ignition off and leave off for 3 minutes.
2-repeat the step #1, 3 or 4 times. You will know that is fixed when you turn the ignition on and the security light does not blink, then the car will start. Make sure to stay inside the car when you're doing this, as opening the doors will trip the security tamper mode on again. Once the tamper mode is off, the car starts and opening the doors will not trip the Passlock tamper mode.
