SOURCE: Dodge 4x4 Doesn't Engage

It's probably the actuator located on the front axle on the passenger side. Also, check all your vacuum lines to make sure there's no broken or leaking lines.

SOURCE: i need a connection diagram for a chev blazer

The Vacuum line to the 4wd actuator from under the battery try runs along the passenger side frame to the vacuum harness that is connected to the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case, driver's side.
The 4wd vacuum switch on top of the transfer case (driver's side) will have three vacuum line, one to the actuator under the battery try, one to vent out the vacuum, and the vacuum line it self which runs up towards the firewall making it's way to the vacuum canister on the drivers fender by the brake booster.
Hope this helps your and thank you for using fixya. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a187/swartlkk/general%20automotive/94_vac_overall.gif http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a187/swartlkk/general%20automotive/94_4wd1.gif

My 4x4 is not working in my Isuzu trooper 1997

Check that the vacuum line is connected to the unit. Everything nowadays is vacuum actuated. Even my '86 Blazer front drive is vacuum actuated.

Changed to 4wheel drive low and I can't get it to change back to 2 wheel drive.

1999 Blazer. Thing's to check. 4x4 problem. There's an actuator pump under your battery plate. Make sure its in good shape and its working proper. Next check the cable that runs from the pump to the front transfer case. Then check the actuator switch on the front transfer case. Then check the vacuum lines from the front transfer case to the rear transfer case, that should be right under the drivers side door. There's also a actuator switch on the rear transfer case witch two vacuum lines run out of. Check them also, and last check your fluid level in your transfer case. Start from the beginning to the end. Don't forget to use your 4x4 every know and then to keep it up to power. Its not like the good old days. Where a pull of the lever on the floor engaged the 4x4. I hope this helps.

1997 chevy Blazer ZR2 4x4 not engaging

Fab only gave part of an answer. Check the vacuum lines on the driverside firewall. Also check your heater/AC unit make sure the air deflector will change from defrost to vent. If it stays on defrost no matter where you put the knob then you have a disconnected or leaking vacuum line to the dash. If that works and you don't see any open hoses then remove the battery and battery tray. You'll find the actuator there. Remove the vaccum line that goes to it, connect the battery or jumper cables so that you can start the engine. Put it in 4HI and feel for a vacuum at the line. If you do then put it on the actuator and see if it pulls on the cable. If there is no vacuum at that line then the switch at the transfer is bad and isn't sending vacuum to the actuator. If you do have vacuum and the cable didn't pull then change the actuator.

4x4 wont engage lights onbutton blink stays 2hi

Check first to see if the front drive shaft is turning when you put it into 4wd. If it is the problem lies either in the front differential or the vacuum leading to the actuator. Find the vacuum line coming from under the battery compartment and follow it to the actuator solenoid mounted on the firewall. Disconnect the two and connect them together with duct tape. If your 4wd engages it's probably the actuator solenoid. About a $59.00 fix.

I have a 93 s-10 blazer the 4 wheel drive is not working i think its a vacuum line where are they located

There is three vacuum line on the driver side, top of the transfer case. One comes from the engine, 2nd line goes to the breather vent, 3rd goes to the 4x4 actuator diaphragm. The 4x4 actuator is located under the battery tray, check the vacuum line and listed for any vacuum leaks at the acuator. Inspect the cable from the actuator to the front differential (pumpkin), it's common for the cable clip on the pumpkin to corrode and will need to be replaced. Good luck and keep me posted.
