Cooling fans will run after the engine is shut down. The coolant doesn't. This would be a faulty coolant sensor, PCM, or a fan relay that is sticking. You can swap relays and see if it is that. After that, it needs to be to a scanner to read the temps and PCM. If want to take a chance, you could replace the coolant sensor. I can't tell you where it is as I work on to many types of vehicles.

The coolant circulates in BMWs. My boss said it was a great feature dropping into a mall for a quick shopping stop for coffee. When you got in the car it was still blowing warm air. He complained bitterly with his new Audi.

On some cars, BMWs in particular the water is circulated in the heating system. Also some cars will continue to run the cooling fan. It turns off after a few minutes.

If you have the manual for the vehicle, read through it and see if there is a feature to turn it off. It is running all the time it will flatten the battery. You could open the hood and see where the noise is coming from. Take a picture and perhaps Randy will be able to tell you what the component is. He is a trade mechanic and a specialist in your car which I see is a Mercedes 500 Class, I am just handy with cars, bikes and scooters. They are lot more complicated now than when I was working on them in the late 60s, and 70s.

Engineover heating at complete stops

First thing I'd check is if the radiator cooling fan(s) are operating.

The only times the fan is needed is when the engine is at an idle.
When the car is moving, the air stream forces air through the radiator without the fan.

A lot of fans on newer cars are electric, and controlled by a thermostat, which turns on the fan(s) when the engine gets to a certain temperature.

If this is the setup you have, you'll need to warm up the car to operating temperature, then at idle, check under the hood and see/hear if the fan(s) are running.

2000 chrysler grand voyager fan wont turn off

its a stuck sensor or relay ,, fans will run with the car off until the desired heat and or cooling is completed . check the under hood fuse block for a relay for the fan, see if you have another one that's the same, and switch them out,, if it stops and works ok,, replace the bad relay

Radiator fan and condenser fan wont run

There are relays for both fans under the hood. There is also a fuse box under the hood, and a fuse box under the steering wheel to the right side. The fans are controlled by a temperature switch located on the radiator as well. Check all of these items. The box with the realys says "fan relays" on the cover. THe main fuse box under the hood is also labeled. Everything is labled as to what it is. If fuses and relays are okay, check that temp switch. if the fans do not realize that the car is hot, then they will never turn on.

Interior a/c fan making loud blade noise at high fan speed setting. May just need a cleaning. What are the steps to get to this fan and clean 2003 Honda Pilot EXL

Look under the dash, for the fan motor,if you dont see it look under the hood ,on the firewall, or in the hearter a/c air box housing maybe the evaporator housing is there under the hood the fan must be close by turn on the fan and listen for its local. There may be something in the housing that is scraping the fan cage as it turns or a dry sleeve bearing, esp if you are needeing to change fuses often.

The fan relay is stuck. It is a relatively inexpensive part. Your owners manual will tell you which relay it is and where it is located, most likely under the hood. Once you locate it, pull up on it to remove it and then take it to an auto parts store to get a replacement.

I have a 2004 chyrsler sebring v6 and recently my fan started not shutting off when i turned the car off and now its killing my battery does anyone have any idea what would make the fan stay running even...

Check under the hood and see if you have a decal that says fan may turn on after car is turned off. The fan can run for 10-15min after shut-off.
If it's on for only that length of time and it's killing your battery, you may need a new battery.
If it's not turning off at all, open fuse compartment under the hood, take a small rubber mallet and start to tap the relays. There should be one there for the cooling fan. Once you find it, (the fan will turn off when it's tapped) you can exchange the relay for another (of the same part number - like the wiper relay or A/C relay or something) restart car, let it run til hot, and turn off. If fan shuts off within 10-15 minutes, you need a new relay.

Does both fans need to run with a/c on if so what sensor controls the cooling fan its only comes on when engine heats up then cuts off when it cools the engine gets hot the a/c starts cutting off till it...

Yes both fans need to run while the A/C is running, this is because the A/C compressor puts a good amount of added load on the motor and heat is generated when the refrigerant is compressed. There should be a A/C fan relay under the hood in the secondary fuse/relay box,it has probably gone bad,if you have a shucks/kragen or autozone in your area they will test the relay for you.
