The breather hose should run to the air cleaner housing or intake tube. Check your radiator cooling fan. If it isn't working the car will run hot at slow speeds or idle then cool down after you get going faster. A quick check would be to turn the AC on and see if the fan comes on. If not try lightly tapping on the cooling fan motor with a wooden broom handle. If it comes on then you have a bad motor. If the fan comes on with the AC then check to see if the fan comes on after the engine gets hot. If the engine temp doesn't kick it on then the temperature sensor might be bad. If the fan is ok please post more info on your problem
check your coolant level. there will be a temp probe in your coolant system. if this isn't getting coolant on it (due to being too low), it may prevent your fan from coming on.
The air conditioning condenser creates a lot of heat when the a/c is on. The cooling fan is supposed to run the whole time the a/c is on to keep it cool. If the fan isn't on, the radiator will absorb this heat and cause your car to over heat. You should also check your coolant level. So, it sounds to me like your cooling fan isn't working.
if the cooling fan didn`t come on then you need to find out why.is the cooling fan motor seized or is the fan not being sent a signal from the ecm(computer) to turn on the fan through the cooling fan relay.if you take and unplug the cooling fan and run a power wire and ground wire to the connectors at the fan and it won`t work then the fan is seized and needs replacing.this is the most common problem with these.the other is the relay.if the ecm isn`t receiving a signal from the cooling system sensor then it may or may not turn on the check engine light.then you may have to have it checked with a scan tool that will show you what the ecm is seeing,to see if the temp is registering with the ecm.
sounds like the cooling fan isn`t coming on when its suppose to.if you have 2 fans on the car then the one that comes with the a/c only works with the a/c.the other one works with the engine temperature sensor that sends a signal to the computer that turns on the cooling fan.cooling fans are a common problem with gm`s.with jumper wires you can feed the fan directly from the battery if it won`t work then the fan needs replacing.it could also be the fan relay in the relay box.have you checked the fuses.with it having been on a scanner it should have shown a code for the circuit,as such if there was a problem with the relay, fuse or computer it should have shown it.so i would say its probably the cooling fan motor.
Sounds like your condensor cooling fan isn't working. It cools while driving because air is forced over condensor while driving. Tio prove this, place a box fan in front of the car and turn it to high. Watch it start cooling.
