Do you have headlights or other signs that your battery is in good condition other than the radio? Ever hear the hissing before when you shut off the car? Like an interior fan in the a/c? Possibly corroded battery connections or a bad ground in the starting system.
check connection and wires at battery for damage or corrosion if good check for power to ignition switch if no power check for damaged or shorted wiring if good turn key and check if power going to relays or accessory's at fuse panel if no power switch may be bad
Believe it or not I have found that one key will start my 2009 Ford escape and the other will not-even after replacing the battery in the key. I though it was a dead battery or possibly the starter but it is the key. I haven't figured out how to get the key repaired. Thank God I had a spare one!
It may start the engine fine, meaning it has a good ground, BUT, the ground from battery to the body is NOT. Make sure that connection is good and clean.
If your radio and panels work when you are turn to the accessories option, it is most likely your starter. Get the car manual out and find the starter and test the wires leading to it, if it's in a workable position. If the wires are good, it's a bad starter.
Accessory position is turning key towards he driver. Ignition on is away 1 and start is away2.
Turn on your headlights, do they work? If not, chk batt terminals
If they do, try to crank the engine noting what the headlights do. If they go out, Chk the batt ground cable. If they dim, your batt needs a charge. If they dim and then come back bright when you back off the starter, the starter is bad.
Chk for loose engine to body ground. That would affect the accessories. Good Luck, _Ned_
I think that your battery is dead. Try jump starting the car. Be careful that you hook the jumper cables correctly, red to positive[the + on the battery] black to negative[the- on the battery].
Not all replacement parts are good. I would guess that the new ignition switch is bad. Its also possible that the wiring harness is loose where its connected to the ignition switch. You could try jiggling the wires.
to turn over the starter motor you require a lot of current . If the battery has a partial charge the accessories may work but the Car starter motor won't turn over. However you should hear a click from the starter motor soleniod.
If you hear no click when you turn the key to start the car might have an immobilizer that is stopping the car from starting ?
