If there is no manual lever or such you may be able to hook a jump box or battery into the cigar lighter to get power to release the boot . This setup is what technicians use to maintain computers memory when replacing batteries and certain diagnostic procedures . Good luck.

Cannot open passenger side front door, it seems to be stuck in the closed position. Yes the inside and out-side handles do pull but will not open the door and yes the window will power up and down. ...

The first thing I suggest is call a locksmith or AAA if you have it. tell them whats going on, not a lock issue, Ask if they can get the door open. I doubt it , but you never know. Anyway, the latch is dead, as you know, The problem is you will have to remove the seat to get the door panel off to replace or fix the latch mechanism. If your up to it let me know and I can help you threw it.

My steering column is locked and I cannot get the key to turn to start the car. I have a 2008 pontiac g5.

The battery dead? Remove the battery cables and wait and then see if the key will turn. If it will not remove the key ( will it come out?) the key can be the wrong one ( maybe) you can have a blown fuse. Any fuse so you need to check them all. If the key will turn with the battery disconnected then put the car in park and turn the key off and remove it from the car. with the window down and the doors all closed and the hod open reconnect the known good ( charged Battery) with the battery connected don't open the door but reach in and put the key in and start the car. the doors should lock when the engine starts. reach in and unlock the door and get in and close the door. then turn the car off and remove the key get out and close the door and lock it with the key. wait a minute and then unlock the door with the key get in and drive away like normal. do everything though or you'll unset the reset cycle. Make shure that the break lights work as they control the unlocking feature of the collum.

Passenger window operates intermittingly. When it

The problem could be in the master window switch on the drivers door, or the window motor could be going out, but most likely the cause is a broken wire inside of the weather boot that runs between the door and the body of the vehicle, and the broken wire is making intermittent contact because the door is being opened and closed all the time, and sometimes the wire will touch and make the connection and that is why it only works sometimes.

Try this the next time that the window stops working, hold the window switch down in whatever direction that you want the window to go (up or down) and while holding the switch in that position open and close the drivers side door and move or wiggle around the weather boot that contains the wiring that is between the door and the body of the vehicle, and do the same for the passenger side door, if the window starts working while you are holding down the window switch and opening and closing the door or moving around the weather boot between the door and the body of the vehicle, then there is a broken wire or even wires that will need to be repaired.

The broken wire can be on either the passenger side, or most likely on the drivers side, and if you do find a broken wire or wires, then you should repair the wires by soldering them well and use the same gage wire if you need to lengthen the wire to repair it successfully, and do not use a wire connector if you want the repair to last.

I own a '99 Range Rover 4.6 hse. I recently reinstalled a battery that had gone dead. I cranked the engine but the alarm went off and the vehicle did not start. I am getting this message: gearbox fault. I...

Unfortunately, there is a trick to replacing the battery.
1) Open the Driver side door.
2) Open the Bonnet and take the battery cover off.
3) Use your remote to lock and unlock the car (keeping the driver side door open)
4) Pull the Negative Lead from the battery first, followed by the Positive Lead.
5) Change or replace with charged battery.
6) Closed down Bonnet.
7) Your windows, sunroof, and key FOB will not work... so follow the next steps.

7a) Insert your key, with door closed into the exterior lock on driver's side.
7b) While turning the key to lock the door, hold down the "lock" button on your remote for 5 seconds while in "lick" position
7c) Your remote will reset, and you should be able to use your remote now
7d) While driving, roll each window down twice. On your third attempt, you should only have to touch the window button, and the window will have reset

Providing both windows go up and down
Open both doors drop windows
Shut doors, raise and lower windows two or three times
This resets windows to raise/lower slightly on entry/exit
Also operate roof as windows are connected to this system, and then try the above.

Jaguar XK8 Window Problem

Same thing has happened on mine!
The solution is to reprogram the window limits. You need to sit in the car with doors shut! Turn the key in ignition in position I or II, roll down the window all the way and keep holding the switch for 5 seconds, then roll the window up and again keep the switch pressed for 5 seconds, repeat same steps for other door.
Reprogramming is also described in the owners manual. I don't know how mine became deprogrammed, should only happen if the battery is disconnected!
