If the alternator and the battery are good, the next most likely thing is a bad connection someplace. Remove the battery terminals and clean them up well. Also, try to find your main ground wire, usually bolted to the chassis or engine block, and make sure it's clean. If just one connection is really dirty, the alternator can't get the juice to the battery.

make sure all the wires were connected back to the battery there is a red wire that sits by itself and when you disconnect the battery it tends to fall also check the alternator circuit breaker could be blown.

The owners manual does a very poor job of describing the location ( something like right hand side of instrument panel ?? ).
It is in the passenger side kick panel, same place the fuel inertia switch it at ( and the location description for that reads much better ).
If you look at the passenger side lick panel, there is a finger grove towards the front of the truck. Open it like a door, pulling into the center of the truck ( the hind side is towards the a pillar ).
Once the kick panel cover is off, you will see the fuse panel cover.

Page 134 of my 98 owners manual shows relay 5 and fuse #5 on the cab fuse panel. also #24 is the blower relay. Also there is a 40 amp fuse #23 in the power distribution box under the hood.
