Have a 1995 Buick Regal. Car stalls when braking at a stop sign or braking into a left or right turn.RPMs drop to 500 then stalls without warning.Car starts right up with no problem and runs great.

I would check for a dirty throttle body and a faulty idle air control valve.

replace the turn signal wiring harness had the same problem with mine no brake lights

Have you checked the fuse ??? if so i would suspect wiring . Or the abs ecm mogul

If a mouse chewed the wire into you may need to check all the wires. It sounds like you need to check the operation of the idle air control valve and it's wiring circuit. Good fortune!

Check fuel pump pressure after you replace fuel filter.

Get the Chilton book on this car. Follow the brake lite circuit to ground, make sure it is not corroded. The brake-turn circuit is sort of complicated, so check it out carefully. If the brake lite is controlled by a switch on the master cylinder, check it out.

open the bleeder with someones foot on the pedal. If brake fluid sprays out, replace the caliper. If fluid doesn't spray out, replace the brake hose.

These models had a problem with the electronic control modules, and this is what controls the idle speed. Sometimes they just need to be cleaned, but sometimes they are defective. Volvo has extended the warranty on some of them to 10 years or 200,000 miles if it is found to be defective.

My car idled OK but not great and used to die during stops at times. I replaced the spark plugs and wires without a difference. Shortly after the car died with very little power, just enough to limp home. I had a shop fix it so I didn't guess what was wrong. They replaced the Ignition Module and some of the Coil Packs. They had to replace the Spark Plugs I just put in due to fouling. If you are smelling gas you are putting your cat at risk and might have a more expensive problem later. It cost me $500 but it runs better than ever.
