SOURCE: conversion to a 4l80e to a 4l60e
This isn't as easy as you may think. The output shaft is different between the two so the transfer case (4wd) or driveshaft (2wd) wont' fit together. The computer control is different in each application. I wouldn't think that the crossmember set up is the same either, of course, I've only seen the 4L80 in 3/4 and heavier trucks.
You can build a 4L60 E so it is pretty tough. Change the gear sets to 5 pinion, heavy duty shell, wider band, aftermarket clutch packs, etc. This is what I recommend to my customers
SOURCE: transmission swap
Yes its the same bolt pattern. The frame is drilled to move the crossmember in position for the different transmissions. You will probably have to swap the computer, but the wiring is the same as far as i know. Just slightly different computer signals.
SOURCE: transmission problems
Automatic? It won't move in overdrive, drive, 2, or 1? If it won't it sounds like a burnt forward clutch. You have tried all these positions?
